    The staff are exceptionally warm, friendly and helpful- Ken, Marin & Miki. They are an international team (from Guam, China, Thailand etc) that gives you Japan’s warmest welcome which was refreshing. The rooms are large and really outstanding- Quadruple the size of rooms in Sapporo; the lake view rooms framed by full size windows was truly exceptional!(There were some bike helmet issue highlighted and hopefully addressed for future guests). The restaurants were all of high quality- the main restaurant for a hearty and delicious breakfast/dinner (dinner-fish size should be increased) & the more affordable noodle bar was good for a quick meal. The public onsen has a closed and open air area good for summer. Overall a very good stay at the beautiful Lake Toya.

    This hotel is great for couples! A little pricey, but for the view, it's worth it! It's quite a distance from the town hence it's better if one drives. Ample parking lots. Toyako Onsen is a small town, during low peak, restaurants close really early. Breakfast is alright, with limited options. Staff were very friendly. Will come again!

    This was my 2nd time at Lake Toya, and I decided to book WE Toya for a different experience, but man, I was so disappointed. 1st, the location is just terrible. There is nothing good about it, being so far away from the main area where all the food and fireworks are. It is a 20min drive away, making it super time-consuming to go out and come back. The hotel is also not at a very high point, so the view isn't fantastic either. 2nd, facilities are underwhelming, especially the onsen. I had thought to relax at the onsen and look at the lake, but no, the outdoor onsen was extremely small and view was partially blocked by poles and buildings. I spent less than 5mins in the onsen before giving up. Other travellers did the same too. The hot tub at the balcony was a good idea, but there's no way to adjust the water temperature and it was boiling hot. At night, there were so many insects so its impossible to soak then too. 3rd, food was disappointing. Bfast was similar to any other chain hotels in Japan, nth special. Dinner was more of a western fusion, instead of the Japanese style typically served at ryokan. 4th, room was normal but had impractical designs. The tap at the sink was too long, so u cannot fill your cups or the hot water kettle. Toilet door handle was too gimmicky to open, just have a normal handle for god's sake. No hook to hang your clothes when showering too. 5th, service was generally good amongst the staffs, but the restaurant manager needs to be called out. We didnt order any alcohol at dinner as we dont really drink + the prices are ridiculous. Her face was very black and judgemental, and gave shityy servive throughout the dinner. When the food was served, there was 0 smiles at all, and kept rushing to clear our plates. My family did not have a good time at dinner because of her. Would never come back nor recommend this hotel. Pls do yourself a favour and book elsewhere. For the 2k+ paid for 2 rooms 2 nights, I could have gotten a significantly better experience elsewhere.
