About this villa rental
Stylish contemporary villa in the heart of the unspoiled Alcantara Valley boasting a private panoramic pool.
Villa Alcantara is a superb retreat: exquisitely peaceful surroundings, fully air-conditioned and at only 10 to 15 minutes drive from the renowned beaches of Giardini Naxos and about 30 minutes from Taormina.
Perched on the side of a mountain, the villa offers a wide view on the luxuriant landscape. A modern arch design set on the edge of the 50 square meters terrace will help you frame a mental postcard of the surroundings that will be difficult to forget!
You access the bright living area from the terrace. Thanks to the wide sliding doors, the gorgeous spectacle of the nature around you will accompany your every daily gesture, while relaxing on the sofa or having breakfast on the dining table. The well-equipped kitchen and a satellite TV with a DVD player will make you feel right at home. On this floor there is also a practical toilet.
The sleeping area, with three double bedrooms, is on the floor below and it is connected internally by a marble stairway and externally by a second stairway leading directly to the pool. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi. The other two bedrooms, (one of which also features a bunk bed), have access to a beautiful 'hammam’ style bathroom with natural light coming through the remarkable skylights. Finally, there is a laundry room and a handy outdoor shower, ideal in the summer returning from the beach.

SURROUNDINGS
The Alcantara Valley is one of the lushest valleys of Sicily thanks to the presence of the Alcantara River that supplies irrigation water to the many citrus orchards cultivated in the area all year round. Even during the hot and dry Sicilian summers, the Alcatara Rivers remains ice cold, providing to all its visitors with fresh relaxing moments. You can simply wet your feet and peacefully lying down on its beaches and on its rocks, or doing fun activities such us tubing excursions or exploring the river with its lava-stone walls and waterfalls by hiking or by riding a horse.
The Alcantara Valley is a truly strategic base from where to explore the Eastern side of Sicily. The charming town of Taormina, its vibrant coast and coast villages (30km of beaches from Fondachello to Sant’Alessio Siculo), Mt Etna and its authentic villages are all very close by.
If you are a wine-lover you cannot miss Castiglione di Sicilia, a nearby village known as ‘the city of wine’ (‘Città del Vino’) for its famous vineyards and wineries.

What a wonderful peaceful villa. The views are exceptional and our stay was wonderful. The villa was extremely clean and tidy, beds comfortable and all the items you require for a stay. Very pleased.

The house is great and has a magnificent view over the valley. Wonderful pool and a very private location. Easy to go to nearby cities and villages by car. Great location for exploring the South- and eastern part of Sicily. We had a wonderful week in the house.

There are pluses and minuses with our stay:
Pluses: We would recommend it if guests don't mind driving as it's 20 mins from Taormina and 10 mins from the nearest shop in the local village. We loved Michael Cafe (excellent granite & snacks and the local supermarket - Maxisconti). The distances to other attractions are considerable as Sicily is deceptively large. The hillside location is very tranquil and the air conditioning and pool were very good.
Minuses: We strongly recommend that the owners refurbish the villa with better furniture, bedding(very uncomfortable) and towels (thin and worn) which were substandard as was the cleaning. The IKEA furniture has simply worn out. Also the track leading to the villa requires a small four wheel drive (we had a low car despite ordering a four wheel drive and constantly scraped the bottom of our car on it) or concrete and/or gravel laid.
Guiseppe, however, was an excellent host - friendly, attentive and very helpful.
