La Basilica

Very nice and spacious apartment close to the city center.

Nothing to not lik but the only thing we missed is a coffee machine.

Location of the apartment is perfect if you want to stay in the center of the town and Intra is a town with good ferry connections around the lake. Town itself can be considered as a local town more than a typical tourist one which we prefer.

Everything worked well. We arrived from Milan by train so take into consideration that there is no train station in Intra. The nearest station is Pallanza and the station a bit outskirts. We arrived pretty late, 9 pm, and there were no service or taxis available. The taxi number at the station, which police kindly pointed us, was not reachable. So better book a taxi in advance for the pick up if arriving by train.

Me and my wife stayed the last week im May 2022 in this apartment called »La Basilica«. We give it 6 stars for the location and the cut of the rooms. It is not the typical synthetic »Holiday Flat«, it is a real apartment (also suitable for family) in the center if Verbania/Intra - the less Tourist location of the Verbania. The flat is on the fifth floor, high above the city - and what makes it absolutely unique is the view from the second balcony (bedroom with super-king-size bed) directly to the cathedral »La Basilica«. Air distance about 20 meter! More closely you will seldom or never be or sleep on the »doorbell to heaven«. And yes, sometimes these bells are ringing. 5 times. In the morning and afternoon hours. You don’t need an alarm clock :) – for us it was always and experience to hear this »doorbell«. You are in the center of the city. Cafés, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and the harbor (for the 3 isles trip) are only a short walk walk away. Second balcony (living room) you have a bit of a lake view and a great view over the city in front of you. Just to mention it: If you decide to stay in your vacation in the center of an Italian City - there are noises! Verbania/Intra comes to rest about midnight. Parking for free is possible at the »marketplace«. Our car stayed there most of the time. Only on Saturday (!) your car must parked otherwise (best on Friday eve) because of the very big market which worth also a visit.

4 stars for some flaws of the inventory. There are no hooks for the towels in the large and kind of luxury bathroom. The cooking stove needs a bit magic ore more understanding as we had. Both stoves worked but strangely not simultaneously. But this are only little things. Biggest flaw, because most of us use Social Media or as in my case, have to check here and there his business at home, is the WLAN. It is not positioned in the flat und you can only go online in the living room. So my recommendation to our friendly and helpful host (always contactable over WhatsApp) is to improve this point. And perhaps sharpen the kitchen knives :) About television or radio - we didn’t use them the six days we stayed there. In the final: This location – the »La Basilica« – deserves all the good reviews. It is a »5 star« if you love to stay in a real and not over touristic city by the Lago Maggiore.

All good. Minor issue was no towel rail or hook, it would be good to have grab rail for shower/bath.

Great view, beautiful apartment, central location

The apartment is really beautiful and spacious, with good airco and two nice balconies. It has a nice atmosphere, is situated on the fifth floor and offers great views all around. The owner Rafaella is very kind and helpful. The location is conveniently located near an affordable parking and the old town.

Guests are required to empty (heavy) jerrycans with airco water. The shower is not easily accessible for older or handicapped people. The nice location near the old town also brings about quite some noise, also at night. The owner asked us to leave 1.5 hour prior to check-out time the night before departure (which we kindly refused). But all in all La Basilica is a great place to stay.
