Villa Candelaria Hostel

A budget hostel in a city of expensive hotels is a welcome relief for the cheapskate. I am a cheapskate. The hostel is perfectly situated in La Candelaria and is a short walk from the usual places of interest in Bogotá. The manager is a friendly woman and is ever present. The room was relatively large and of reasonable comfort. The kitchen had all the usual amenities and was in spic and span condition. Overall a solid hostel for a few nights in the capital.

The only real downside is the bathroom, which is comparatively far from the room to other hostels. If you need the toilet in the night then it's a bit of short walk but nothing too daunting. It would be ideal for the guest if curtains could be installed to shut out the light when one wishes to rest a weary cranium after a hard day's tourism

Almost the perfect place and for the cost it is hard to fault it. Super friendly staff who welcomed us in when we unexpectedly arrived 8 hours before check in! There are nice large common areas, a well equipped kitchen and nice covered courtyard spaces. The shower was brilliant, good pressure and actually had hot water. There is no key just a code so that was handy for not worrying about losing it. It had a good overall feeling/vibe and we felt safe and secure. Perfect location for exploring the Candelaria area and Monserrate. The hostel is situated on the edge of the park and there is a small Oxxo convenience store just 2 minutes walk and a larger supermarket about 10 minutes walk away (an abundance of restaurants and cafes are much closer). No road noise and walls seemed pretty thick. Highly recommend

Minor things but the door bell was a bit disturbing, the lack of signage outside was frustrating when first arriving and no hand towels in the bathroom. The mattress and pillows were very firm but this seems typical in Colombia. The bathrooms and kitchen weren't the cleanest but very good for a hostel and especially at the price point.

Good location. Very safe. Breakfast is included but you make your own.

Room smelled of smoke. Noises on the roof.

Central location and friendly staff, secure building.

It was very loud as the door bell rings at night throughout the accommodation and it is right on the road, the water was lukewarm, limited amenities including no pillow cases provided and limited toilet paper.
