Ballyvaughan Cottages

The house is beautiful, comfortable and has most mod cons. The garden is also lovely and has a pretty outdoor dining area.

however we had no hair dryer. The place also could have been cleaner especially as guets are expected to strip the beds, clean all the dishes etc, dispose of all bins and leave the house tidy.. This means that the person coming to clean is responsible for a deep clean of the property.. this was not what we found upon arrival.. the drawers and cupboards were full of dust, hair and dead insects .. the amount and quality of hangers is neither sufficient or appropriate.

Self catering was great. Location is superb but we had expected to stay in one of the cottages on the peninsula where we had stayed before. It is a pity the owner is shortly going to strip the badly maintained thatch and replace it with a crinkly metal roof. This will mean it is no longer a traditional Irish Rent a Cottage :-((

The quirky internal arrangement would not to be to everyone's taste, but as an architect I can see other better ways of dealing with the cottage. I think the owner plans to re-arrange the cottage according to the planning notice posted on the property.

The location is lovely and the house itself is spacious and comfortable for four people

Unfortunately the interior is tired and could benefit from some things being replaced: the freezer is not in a good condition. In one of the rooms one bedside light is held together with sellotape and the linen and towels have definitely seen better days.
