Absolutly filthy. Damp and mould in bathroom. Stains on carpet. Smell of filth. Noisy guests. Window doesnt work to let fresh air in. Hairs on bed sheets off previous guest. Bed crap. Doors slamming all night. No check in info. Refund should be paid

Easy to check in and paid parking lot is just across the road. Close to walk to everything in town. Beds were comfortable.

Bathroom was old and not well set up, no shelves or hooks for towels. Shower was tiny, uncomfortable, and difficult to use.

Simple room. I got exactly what I thought I would and paid for. Staff were helpful and friendly. Easy to get keys and sort out, shower was good, hot and strong flow. Stopped over night for work as it was easier than travelling, so exactly what I needed.

Short break to barrow

To start with this review is about the ambrose hotel.I was rebooked to this hotel by the owners 3 days before travel.The hotel i stayed in was very good i had a nice room with a comfy bed i had a good nights sleep.The hotel was close to the town centre and also a short bus ride to walney island with it,s beaches i will stay longer next time to see more of the area(The Lake District).

Everything. Very poor standard, was woken up in the middle of the night to all sorts of roaring and shouting. Dont think they were your usual guest house guests. Definitely wouldnt stay again or recommend.

It was awful the accommodation stunk of weed and people playing music banging around till early hours in the morning. I'm not just a moaning Karen either I stay at barrow all the time for work but I will never be returning here that's for sure

Very good value for money

The accommodation was very good. It was very reasonably priced and when you pay this for a stay you're always a bit wary of what you are going to get. There was really no need and the room was very comfortable and answered all my needs. The Holiday Inn is within 3-4 minutes walk where you can obtain a cooked breakfast care of an eat-as-much-as-you-like buffet for £8. The central position was excellent, I thought it might have been a bit noisy but it was quiet. I would stay there again without hesitation.

There was a mix-up at the beginning re keys. The keys are stored in boxes with a combination lock just outside the front door. I didn't have the combination but another resident just happened to be entering and he let me in as each box had the same combination. By some fluke he picked the box for the room for which I had been allocated!! Take note that if you book this then you would need to contact the owner for the combination and the correct box.
