Hotel Archontiko Dimitra

We love Angelica - the hotel owner.

The shower was a bit uncomfortable.

Delightful hotel! Great location, you can walk to all the main archaeological sites and to a number of local restaurants. It's a small town. Wonderful hostess, Angelika, could not have been kinder or more thoughtful. She made us feel so welcome. Great breakfast buffet. Earlier reviews are correct, you feel like family by the time you leave. We'd go back in a heartbeat. And the roses are spectacular.

This was a perfect location for visiting the archaeological sites in Vergina, and we found it to be an excellent base for visiting Dion and Pella (which we recommend highly). Angelika was a wonderful host. Communication on line was clear; in person, a small amount of Greek is helpful, but not necessary. There is a reasonable "super"market nearby. Most of the restaurants in town seem geared to the tourist trade (though not bad). Stou Charatsi, nearby, is welcoming, and good.

Nothing. The streets of Vergina are under renovation (2026), and should be in perfect condition "next year". This is not a serious problem. The Royal Tombs are spectacular, but the available information is outdated. Angeliki Kottaridi's book is quite widely available and very good on the finds and the philosophy behind the museum. It is well worth reading beforehand.

The lady who owns the property is so proud and welcoming. She was very attentive throughout our stay, waving us away the next day with the gift of a rose freshly picked from her own garden for us. The breakfast was really generous and freshly prepared.

The on street parking was fine actually. Easy to park directly outside but we were there in the quiet season. A kettle in the room to make coffee would have been helpful.
