Il Poggio di Traverde

The location was superb, in a very small, quiet village a very short distance from Pontremoli. The room itself was fairly basic, but we had a huge rooftop veranda with a wonderful view. The breakfast was probably the best we had on our 12 day tour of northern Italy. Lots of choices and, Stella kept offering refils of everything, especially for my teenage son! Stella was quite helpful for us, as she was able to converse in English. Both she and her sister were efficient and very pleasant hosts. This accommodation is a great location for exploring Pontremoli, a lovely medieval town that you should not miss if you are in this part of Italy. In addition to the architecture, the old castle, etc. there was a festival occurring on the Saturday we arrived that was quite fun. Lots of local food and crafts as well as staged sword fights, etc. Local musical groups played in the late afternoon and evening in the village square as well. Seriously, we traveled from Milan to Florence and back along different routes through the countryside. Pontremoli was absolutely one of the best stops!

The accommodation is a short distance, maybe 2 km from downtown Pontremoli, but I think you will appreciate having a vehicle to get here. Internet is available, but the connection inside the room can be a bit weak. An easy fix for this issue is simply to sit outside the room on the pleasant veranda.

We loved our beautiful, warm and generous hostesses and sisters, Fausta and Stella. Their home is in the green hills above Pontremoli. The calm and peace and views of the distant mountains were just what we needed after days of more demanding travel. And, the birds! The birdsong was the music of our time at Traverde. We had our best sleeps of the trip here in a spotlessly clean and lovely room with a huge terrace. Breakfasts were generous and delicious with Stella's wonderful pastries, good coffee and eggs and ham if you wish. You will also be treated to the sight of flowers and vines and a vegetable garden below the house. By far though, the best memories of our stay are of the friendship we were honored to share with two charming, gentle, funny and intelligent women who generously shared their family stories and their lives here in Traverde. All was perfect

Un soggiorno meraviglioso e tranquillo in montagna. Le due sorelle che gestiscono il B&B sono state incredibilmente gentili e accoglienti, facendoci sentire come a casa fin dal primo momento. Tutto era pulito, confortevole e pieno di calore. Grazie per la vostra ospitalità — speriamo di tornare presto.
