The views are wonderful, the monkeys sing in the cliffs in the morning, offers privacy from the busy centre of Railay. The bar staff are great, pricing is quite reasonable for a resort. Breakfast is delicious with good mix of east and west cuisine.
The room we had was a little small and the washroom is cramped, but we are not really there for that.

The room was lovely prepared for us when we arrived. Clean and fresh. Beds are firm but nice, pillows are great! Big shower. Staff was very friendly and genuine, really trying to make an extra effort. Pool area is really nice, with the restaurant beside and shared view. Just a short walk from everything you need. Big breakfast. We paid 170 euro. Maybe a little pricey, but we would absolutely stay again!
The area is a little steep at some places, and the room we got was on 3th floor without elevator. Not a problem for us, but keep this in mind. If that is not a problem for you, you wont be dissapointed!

Stunning resort! Amazing swimming pool with breathtaking views. Delicious welcome drink. The cottage house was fine but without any view and with huge number of mosquitos as it was located at the very end of the propriety near the jungle so recommend booking rooms with a swimming pool view :)

Beautiful pool, restaurant, views
Our room. We started with a room on the lower floor, no view, right next to the water tank. Bathrooms had a strong smell.

Staff were wonderful, very friendly and accommodating. They organized a fun New Year party around the pool. Then we headed to the beach for fireworks at midnight. We really appreciated going back to a quiet resort after the beach party. The sunrise view from our room was awesome.
We highly recommend letting the hotel arrange a transfer from the airport. Finding a taxi, finding a longtail boat to Railay, dragging suitcases yourself and then ordering a rickshaw pickup to travel up the hill would not have been fun to do ourselves. The resort would be challenging for individuals with limited mobility, because of the stairs and hill climb. They do run an hourly and on demand rickshaw service from the water.

The pool and the view from the pool area were lovely. We spent Christmas here and the staff could not do enough for you.
The only criticism I have is that the drains in the bathroom of our room did smell a little towards the end of our stay. Typical Thailand drain smell.

Amazing location away from the tawdry scruffiness and day-tripper madness of Railay’s main West and East beaches. Not too far to walk to the much nicer Phra Nang beach, where boats are banned.
Nice pool area. Excellent friendly staff. Very good buffet breakfast.
We stayed on Christmas Eve, and there was a complimentary buffet dinner with live music and dancing - which was all great.
Peak season so we paid too much IMHO (£380 a night)

Breakfast wasn’t the best

The resort is fantastic, really beautiful setting and pretty nature. The room was great, very clean and a very comfortable bed, we loved the view from the balcony too. WiFi, shower, air con all great. Breakfast was delicious with loads of choice and the bar/restaurant area next to the pool was really good, where the service was also impeccable. A huge thank you to John and Aung, both fantastic and very welcoming and helpful. Overall we can't fault the facilities, it was all beautiful.
The only bad thing is that we unfortunately got food poisoning from the restaurant (food poisoning can happen anywhere, it is not a reflection of the kitchen which was fantastic, we had other delicious meals there with no issues) and I felt that the service was very poor surrounding that situation.
My husband asked for some electrolytes but they said they had none, which was surprising as I'd assume they had some in a first aid kit. No offer to get us some. He then asked for a cup of ice but was told no because the bar wasn't open. We weren't offered any extra water or any help at all. I tried to order some plain bread and bananas from room service but was told no, I had to stick to the menu, so we had to order sandwiches and remove all the fillings. At this point I had been up all night and wasn't retaining any liquids, and my husband's symptoms were just as bad during the day.
Overall I feel like for the price you pay, I would've expected some help/care with the food poisoning, especially as we got it from their restaurant. Even just an apology and an offer of some extra water would've been great, we felt quite alone and worried as we both had the same symptoms at the same time and didn't know what to do. We weren't confident that we could get any help should we have really needed it.

Beautiful hotel above Railay Beach. Short walk into town but feels a long way from town. Lovely room with jacuzzi. Pool area is stunning, especially in the evening. The bar was good and reasonably priced. The weather was terrible when we stayed. I imagine the hotel is very special in the sun
We didn’t really like the breakfast but there were plenty of options.

We liked pretty much everything about our stay at Phutawan Resort in Railay. The location is great. It's quiet but allows for an easy 5min walk to the centre. There is so much to do even when it rains.

Everything was perfect! the pool, the happy hour, the rides to the beach, the restaurant, the staff was very nice. the place is so beautiful
Noisy work in the beautiful garden of the resort. would improve cleaning of the shower room, and improve the shower head and water intensity.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Railay Phutawan Resort and we truly have nothing negative to say about our stay, it was perfection! All the staff are excellent and the facilities are above and beyond what the photos show. We traveled to many other places in the country at this was by far our favourite.

The hotel is in the middle of the jungle and the personal is soooo friendly and kind. They help you with anything
The room didn‘t had a hand soap and the pool looked slimey tbh.

Everything about our stay was fantastic. The rooms were spacious and spotless, and the views from both our room and the pool were absolutely stunning, photos don’t do them justice. The food was good, and the staff provided exceptional service throughout. We also loved the location: close to the main strip but far enough to enjoy peace and quiet. We’d definitely stay again and recommend it to family and friends.
Nothing.

Location: FABULOUS (but you need to be relatively able-bodied, as the paths are steep)
Staff: Perfect, friendly and kind
Facilities: Beautiful. We had a jacuzzi room and loved it.
Extra bonus: They have a tuktuk that will pick you up from a certain point on the east or west side of Railay.
The jacuzzi is a bit small for two medium-sized northern Europeans, but would fit two small people just fine. It only had hot water on the first day, but we didn’t bother asking to fix it because it was hot outside and cool water was fine too.

Amazing stay, beautiful and peaceful territory right in the jungle. Great stuff. Convenient location, far from the noisy streets but still walkable to all the activities
Surrounded with stunning mountains and trees, breathtaking views. We will definitely come back.
A bit tough mattress
Food at the restaurant was just mediocre

This was our second stay in Phutawan and we'll definitely come back in a year or two. We had the Grand Sea View (?) room for 8 nights and were given a great room in the corner. Staff were lovely and efficient. Good breakfast. Aircon works well and the bed was comfortable.
The shower didn't really work and water temperature changed constantly. Wasn't a big issue though as it was quite hot so we didn't bother to report the issue. There were a few guests who were rude/unfriendly to the staff - which is obviously not in the resort's control. People, please be nice to staff, they are just doing their job!!

Free Shuttle is nice.
Kind check in staff.
Stunning views.
Good communication before arrival.
Smell of urine around hotel grounds., specifically on the path next to the pool leading into where the rooms are.
Cleaning staff left door unlocked. All valuables were in the safe but still not good.
Swimming Pool had a murky yellow substance in it on the first day. I don’t think it was urine as nobody else was around. Maybe algae. Some of the staff were looking and pointing at it.
Paid for sea view and the bar covers 95% of the sea view.
Only two free bottles of water in room. Everything else costs.

I spent two nights here and overall it was a pleasant enough stay. The hotel location is stunning, nice to be set back from the beach and the pool and restaurant areas have amazing views. Staff very friendly, grounds well kept, good tuk tuk service to and from the beach/pier (though easily walkable too). Breakfast selection was good enough with eggs made fresh to order.
My issue with the stay was mainly the room – and I did choose one of the lower room classes so am aware that others may be much better and the overall stay would be excellent. My room was dated, bathroom was small and if you’re expected to put toilet tissue in a bin instead of the toilet, I think you need a bin with a lid rather than one that’s open. The AC blew directly across the bed area and I found it hard to set the control to create a pleasant temperature; it was either too cold or too hot. There was also very little sound proofing between my room and the one next door; clearly the beds were directly next to each other with the wall in between so I could clearly hear snoring, alarms talking and other noises from the couple next door. Add to that that the windows/balcony doors didn’t block out much noise and there was a lot of ambient sound from the nearby wildlife and cockerels. I didn’t have super restful nights here, and having paid the same price at the previous property I’d been staying in in Koh Lanta, the difference in room quality was stark sadly.
1.0 / 10.0
The view was the only semi-possitive aspect of my stay, but it should be noted that the landscape at this point is filled with other resorts, so there's no real sense of being surrounded by naure, and no real privacy at the property.
Getting to the hotel is extremely difficult, my luggage got ruined as I had to drag it on foot from the peir uphill to the hotel. Once I arrived, exhausted from walking in the midday heat and not in a good way, the staff carried out their standard "welcome protocol", which included a cool drink and little towel along with a contract to sign, ignoring the fact that I was barely able to hold the pen.
Once in the room, the shower didn't work (only cold water), so they sent in a technitian to "fix it". The guy worked on it for an hour while I was resting in the room, said it was fixed - but it was not fixed, and the management simply denied this fact, stating that as the technician said it was fixed -this was the reality - they did not come to check it themselves.
At this point it was clear to me that I wasn't going to stay at the resort, and immediately began looking for alternatives, letting the management no that I was going to cancel the booking and asking for a refund for the 5 nights I had booked in advance. The management refused to refund any of it, using a good-looking assistant manager as a buffer to smile at me and let me know that it just wasn't possible becuase the "management" - who could not be reached directly - just wasn't willing to do it.
Add to this - the breakfast was inedible and the coffee undrinkable - and to top it all off - they charge for drinking water (!!!) - unlike every other hotel in Thailand, and the nearest shop to buy water not through them is a good 10-15 minutes walk away.
In short - this "resort" does not treat customers as guests. They milk you for money in a very cynical way, they really don't care about your expereince and truly should not be in business.

We came here for our honeymoon and the hotel went above and beyond our expectations. We stayed in the Jacuzzi Suite and it was incredible. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, and even on a day when we forgot to request cleaning, they still tidied it up beautifully at night. All the staff were lovely and the hotel itself is gorgeous. We were actually surprised it only has three stars – it definitely deserves more. Everything was truly excellent.
Spacious bathroom and one of the best hairdryers I’ve ever found in a hotel.
Special mention to the staff member who, during check-out, kindly walked us to the pier under the rain to make sure we got to the boat – a gesture that I’m sure wasn’t part of his duties, but we really appreciated it
The lunch and dinner restaurant terrace could be improved to match the charm of the breakfast area, with more wood details and nicer tables and chairs. This was the only small downside. But just to say something.

The location is STUNNING - a living dream. Rooms are modern and clean but still with character and heart. The staff are so beautiful and friendly, give them a smile and you'll feel the true character of the place. The pool is a beautiful place to relax and play
Impossible to fault

Everything was fantastic, we cannot believe this is only a 2 star hotel vs some of the other hotels we have stayed in throughout Thailand. The room decor was fantastic, aircon worked great, views were amazing, towel & amenities provided in the room were immaculate and well presented. The staff upon arrival were great, the pickup from down the hill was super helpful to avoid carrying our bags, and then they were brought all the way to the room for us. Check-in was a breeze. Pool is amazing with the infinity edge overlooking the sea view. The pool staff and cocktails were fab. It was quiet at the top of the hill only with nice music by the pool not playing too loud. In the morning we could hear the gibbons calling in the jungle/cliffs behind the hotel, it was very idilic.
The shower did go from hot to cold throughout using it, not a major issue but could probably be fixed to improve even further.

Location, view, pool, staff. They help you book day/boat trips. Breakfast was also okay. They provide you with a shuttle service so you don't have to walk to the shore.
There wasn't much to do in the hotel, only a restaurant and a pool.

Nice holiday park with different accommodation options. Very nice pool area with a beautiful view. Close enough to town, but they also run a free hourly shuttle.
Breakfast buffet was really good.
We thought we'd spoil ourselves and get a room with a outdoor jacuzzi. On the pictures it looked like it had a beautiful jungle view, but our view from the jacuzzi was looking out at other rooms, and the other side of the veranda was less than 1m away from windows of another accommodation.
We had high expectations bc this room was discounted more than 60%, which is the reason we chose it over another room at another resort, that was slightly lower priced but also much less discounted. We paid 3,400 THB for this room. We thought this resort was going to be amazing, if this room normally would be 8,500 THB. We were very excited we had found such a good deal.
We weren't suspicious of this bc we were traveling in low season (June) and we booked it on the day.
The bathroom was old and in need of a renovation. The staff was mostly fine, but not what you'd expect for a resort that would normally be so highly priced.
They still had plastic bottles of water (instead of glass like many of the other accommodations we stayed in this trip) and you only get two per day included (instead of unlimited water).
Very unhappy they are seemingly price gouging their room rates. After we arrived and realised this room was so underwhelming, we checked and all the room rates are about 50% off at all times (we checked a couple of dates in the future).

It is a pretty location and the cottage was very nice.
It’s a bit far from the beach so a bit of a pain. There is a shuttle that goes every hour but it’s not super convenient. If you have lots of luggage it’s a bit of a haul.

It’s a gorgeous hotel in an amazing place!
The view from the swimming pool is unreal. The bar area is unbelievably nice as well! The name of the bar speaks for itself - it’s THE VIEW indeed. You can sit there whole day watching rock climbers while enjoying nice drinks! But you don’t have to sit there whole day - it’s a 10 minute walk to all of the 3 beaches of the area. There’s a beach shuttle option which is also very nice.
We were living in a room with the garden view and it was a really good room. It had a window and a balcony on two opposite sides. The jungle view was stunning. All the basics such as a smart tv, a fridge, etc. were there. The WiFi connection was pretty good across the whole territory of the hotel which is important for those who work remotely.
The last but not least - the staff. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful! Thank you to all the amazing people who work there!
The only downside was the water heating in the shower.

This is the second time I have been to this resort and still have the same breathless view from the pool to the beach. Surrounded by nature, wild monkeys and beautiful bull frogs singing at night. Everything is short walking distance to beaches/restaurants. Breakfast is buffet with plenty of variety.
If you don’t like insects or wild animals this place is not for you!
I would definitely come back to Railay Phutawan resort
