Super friendly and helpful owner

The ferry wasn’t always that reliable on one occasion

We had a very enjoyable stay here, we loved Kuching but it was lovely staying on the quieter side of the river and getting the ferry across in the morning. We found it was much cheaper in the evening to get back to the homestay by walking across the bridge and getting a Grab from that side of the river, the length of wait for the Grab was slightly longer than getting a Grab in town but it was a quick ride back to the homestay. It was great having access to a washing machine and detergent was provided at no cost.

We liked it all.

Staying at Merdeka Guesthouse 2 in Kuching was a highlight of my trip! The staff (shoutout to Pakcik Matnor!) are incredibly kind, generous, and welcoming, making me feel right at home with their helpful local advice and service. The facilities are impressively complete for a guesthouse, including a washing machine, refrigerator, water heater, iron and iron board, and even a small cooking area. Everything is kept exceptionally clean! I’d give it a 10/10 for cleanliness. Despite the budget-friendly price, the comfort levels are top-tier; with the peaceful village atmosphere and cozy rooms, it truly feels like a 5-star experience in terms of relaxation. It is outstanding value for money, often costing significantly less than the city average while providing better service. The location is also very strategic. Situated in a calm neighborhood across the river, it's just a quick, scenic RM1–RM2 boat ride away from the Kuching Waterfront and main city attractions. Thank you so much Merdeka Guesthouse! 🥳

To me, everything was perfect ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We really liked the location in a traditional malay village, if you wanted to get to the city it was a shirt boat ride away which we really enjoyed, the host was super helpful and informative went out of his way to help and a very nice man too who spoke great English

There wasnt anything in particular we didnt like as we were only there for 3 days, however it you are staying in the area longer the room may be to small
