Great central location with bars and restaurants and shops all around. Comfy bed and great shower: Wonderful waffle house with Camino stamp opposite!
Not having any staff was strange but access codes were sent via message (I discovered late!).

Amazing location, just on the Camino, grocery store not far either. Pleasantly decorated. Good kitchen available to use. Shared bathroom was good, it's private (one person uses the whole bathroom at a time) and it was available whenever I needed it.
The single room was small but that was expected as per photos, so all good. Check-in process was rough. Based on other positive reviews (apart from one other mentioning bad check-in) I may be the unfortunate exception. I arrived at the time previously shared with the guest house but there was no answer at the door (an automated response was in Portuguese and quick), after 3-4 rings while I was still standing on a busy road after a really long day of walking the Camino I finally got response but again in Portuguese and the doorbell connection was poor. They ended up understanding that I'm from 'booking' and the door was unlocked. But there was no check-in desk inside or anyone to meet me. There's also no place to sit at the top of the stairs. After exploring the house and waiting for 15 mins I ended up entering my room because I thought this was one of the self-check-in places. 20 mins later (35 mins since I arrived), the staff came and told me off like a child or a trespasser that I should have waited at the top of the stairs until they let me into the room. Question - how long would anyone stand in a hallway in front of their open room door (and keys on the bed) until they assume nobody would come? What if nobody comes at all? I had a long day of walking, very exhausted, in need of a shower and lying down, so this threw me off considerably. I'm sure that's one big miscommunication but because of this experience I'd probably not book here again.
