Fantastic Feb 2025 week at Ludgate cottage. This was actually our 2nd stay within the last 12 months. Location is perfect with access straight onto the moors near to Haytor offering lots of walks in different directions. Would recommend the walk between Haytor and Hound Tor. Cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. I fully expect we will return in the future. Thank you for a lovely week.

We don’t usually go back to places but we might just make an exception here as we had a great time.

Superb location for walking. Lovely outlook from upstairs windows. Comfortable and quiet. Well equipped cottage with off-road parking and grass area for sitting out when weather is suitable. The occasional grazing cow mooing outside the bathroom window makes for the authentic rural experience. The lemon drizzle cake left for us was yummy.

My wife didn’t like the odd cobweb hidden away in the beams. The fact that we had to leave at the end of the week.

We have plans to return…..

The location was gorgeous, the conversion of a barn into a beautiful holiday home was done thoughtfully and tastefully. Cross the road to the moor with all its natural beauty, wild life and history (the heavy horses who transported the granite from the 19th century quarry along the stone wagon tracks lived in this building).

The weather! Fortunately the moor walks were not dependent on full sunshine and Bovey Tracey and Ashburton were well able to satisfy our interests in food and art. The thunderstorm on our first night was spectacular!
