Hotel Albe Bastille

Friendly and welcoming staff. Comfortable room with small balcony overlooking quiet internal garden space. Nice relaxed character - in a very pleasant area conveniently close to Gare de Lyon and with good restaurants nearby.

It was easy walking distance from the Gare de Lyon. Lots of places to eat close by.

I really like this neighborhood, and the guy who works the evening shift is funny and kind. However, there are some issues. I stayed here in 2016 or so, but either my memory failed me or it's gone downhill. The room was very small and outdated. Looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. It was also very dirty. One of my towels was littered with dead insects, like they pulled it from the back of a closet from years ago. It's also a very noisy area with the bars outside, and you can hear every sound from the neighbors (like even them opening a bag of chips). The showerhead doesn't work properly, squirting out in all directions, and there's just a tiny barrier, so it's hard to shower without getting the floor wet. I've cancelled my stay for the end of my trip.
