Lovely property, with a proper country feel. Stunning room with garden view onto the river, felt very homely and spacious. Then breakfast including in the price which was delicious. Went into the pub on the evening with a lovely traditional log burning fire. Perfect weekend break, highly recommend!

I booked this two night break to coincide with my wife’s birthday, and as a little Winter treat. The hotel met all my expectations (and my wife’s but it was a surprise for her) and then some. Our bedroom was of a very good standard and was nice and warm with a thermostat for our control. The breakfast each morning was cooked with plenty of different options, with cereals and juice also available. On the second night we had an evening meal which did not disappoint with choice and quality. All together a very enjoyable stay, all aided by wonderful staff, and we will definitely recommend the Tempest and look to stay again in the future, many thanks 👏👍

A lovely place to stay wonderful attentive staff and a delicious meal/breakfast. The room (5)was comfortable but we had a view of a rooftop.
The £125 we spent should have at least given us a glimpse of the lovely scenery. Would definitely recommend.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The building itself is beautiful and Is set in a lovely area
The service in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. It took around 40 minutes for our order to be taken and then a long time for our food to be brought to us. I ordered a salt and pepper chicken salad priced at £16.95 with a side order of triple cooked chips. The salad consisted of a few salad leaves and honestly very little else. There was next to no carrot, cucumber, no spring onion at all. Had a waiter asked at any point how our meal was , I would have mentioned it but the only interaction was when we were paying our bill and we were bluntly asked to ‘just tap your card’ without even showing us the amount on screen or asking how things had been. The ‘triple cooked chips were hugely disappointing as most of them were pale and still rock hard. Not sure how you can cook something three times and it still remain undercooked !!! Overall I felt they were more focused on getting set up for breakfast and getting finished than the few diners still left.
Breakfast was a little better the following morning but our wait to order was yet again lengthy but not as long as some of those around us. We were not once asked at either meal about any allergies either as I thought was standard industry practice.
I have visited the tempest before. Once at a wedding and also previously on an overnights stay and really enjoyed it. For a hotel/pub/restaurant as well established as the tempest arms I went with high expectations but found I was very disappointed this time and felt the service and food did not reflect the cost of our stay which we booked as a Christmas present to each other

Location was good , breakfast was very nice .
Staff were friendly and helpful
The noise from two other rooms was unbearable.
I could hear two different televisions. People coughing , grunting !!! A dog barking .
I am recovering from an illness and my sleep is very important. I could not go to sleep with the noise until both rooms turned off their televisions and the occupants went to sleep . An alarm went off very early in one of the adjacent rooms . That woke me up . Not ideal

Staff could not have done more for us and what a beautiful room with an incredible view of mountain and beck just outside the back door, and welcomed on arrival by a Robin!.
Perfect end to a stress filled day
Nothing, it was perfect. Thank you

Room very comfortable on the ground floor.
Upon arrival at 3.0pm on Sunday 30th November I found the car park overflowing. No spaces anywhere. I waited for 15/20minutes until people started leaving. Parked my car and entered. The pub was absolutely full with no spare tables vacant. Checked in. No problem. Bought drinks from the bar and consumed them in the comfort of our room.
The evening meal was restricted to the Sunday Lunch menu, served all day. I've had better meals at The Tempest.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Hotel and pub of very good standard. Excellent food freshly cooked and hot.
Very very minor issue that bed moved/slid when you sat on it.

Location was great to travel around Yorkshire, parking is available onsite.
Our bed seemed smaller than a king as they indicated and the bed kept sliding across the room as the brakes weren’t holding on the wooden flooring
Staff other than Sharon and the house staff, weren’t as engaging as our previous experience 2 years ago.
On our 1st morning we missed breakfast by 6 minutes and all the receptionist could do was point to a sign on her desk with breakfast times. I believe she could have tried to arrange something with the chef as it was included and had been paid for. We appreciate it was our responsibility, but it was an oversight on our part, which again I believe could have been managed differently.
Also staff in the pub for dinner and breakfast weren’t very engaging or hospitable and the quality of the food was average.

Location was perfect.. close enough to civilisation but remote enough to feel rural..
The property was fine. Our Sunday roast was tasty but Luke warm, by the time we had realised, it was rather too late to complain. The desert was tasty also but took 20 mins to arrive from ordering, after asking of its whereabouts . Shame really

The room was very cold even with the heater on and the bathroom was freezing
No milk. Had to find a barman
Very expensive for a normal sized room sold as superior suite.

Beautiful place, and our room was wonderful. We chose the bedroom with the bath and the view of the beck, which included an outside seating area. The food was great (particularly the chicken supreme) and the staff were friendly. Good service. We will definitely return!
Not a reflection on the hotel but I struggled to use the coffee machine in the room. Everything else was perfect

Nice and well decorated room. It was comfortable. The hotel receptionists were friendly.
The restaurant was another story. We were waiting at the bar for 45 minutes despite a reservation. I would have appreciated some communication. I would definitely visit again but book the restaurant somewhere else .

Beautiful place. Really good large room with seating area. Plenty of public seating outside. Easy to get on the main roads and a bus stop very close by.
The staff were lovely .
Not a lot of storage room if there for more than one or two nights.
No changes to the menus for the same reason.
The areas between the outside rooms were not cleaned - due to the wild life visiting it really needs checking every day.
Our bookings for evening meals in the restaurant were lost.
The breakfast menu was very different - a sandwich being two doorstops of bread with choice in the middle. Impossible to bite into and the knives weren't sharp enough to tackle them. Of course full English was offered as well as other options.

From walking into the Hotel we were greeted with happy vibes from the hotel
Receptionist.
The free afternoon cake on check-in was an unexpected bonus & treat.
The Room we had booked was just perfect, far better than we expected off the photos, very spacious, clean & super views of rolling hills & sheep.
The Restaurant was also very nice & the Chef cooked up some lovely dishes for us.
We loved our stay at The Tempest Arms & its Unpretentiousness.
Thank you & we will come back.
We didn’t like the fact we hadn’t booked for longer❤️

Everything was great apart from the temporary manager trying to close the bar at 9 pm. After us complaining she eventually carried on serving.
But only until 10 pm still 30 minutes earlier than its says on a Sunday

The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was lovely. We particularly liked the breakfast which was freshly cooked and individually rather than a buffet.
The room was very clean and comfortable. We were also able to check in early.
Maybe a later breakfast option.

The Tempest Arms is situated just off the A56 near small village of Elslack, 5 miles outside Skipton.
This is the local pub for the village and appears well used by locals.
There were several local craft ales on tap.
This would be a good place for a few pints with the lads.
We arrived on a sunday and booked a table for dinner with reception when we arrived.
On arriving for dinner we were told our booking for a booth table although made with reception "wasn't guaranteed" and we'd have to sit in the bar area in front of a rather loud singer/entertainer.
We were not informed by either reception when we booked or by our server that there was a special offer when booking 2 sunday roasts-we had to be informed of this by a group of locals. When we pointed this out we were given (very reluctantly it seemed to us) the free bottle of wine which should have accompanied our meal, but we received on leaving.
The food when it arrived (almost an hour after ordering) was hot, very good and plentiful.
Although there appeared to be plenty of staff on duty, there appeared to be a lack of direction. Bar staff clearing tables, bringing food from kitchen while waiting staff meandered around doing ????
It also needs said that the bar/restaurant was a very busy place , but someone needs to bring some organisation to this.
Breakfast had cereal/yoghurt buffet style (no fresh fruit options at all), and cooked breakfast options (of which there were many) were served to your table. Our server despite writing down our order, forgot to bring toast to the table (they had run out of white bread-only brown available).
We were woken very early on monday morning by contractors cleaning bins/cleaning drains using very noisy equipment

From the moment we checked in the receptionist and other staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and spotlessly clean. There were lots of choices of different coffees and teas plus a little bottle of semi skimmed milk in the fridge. Personally we couldn't fault anything .The food and service in the restaurant was spot on .
