Stay, you'll like it here.

Quiet, clean and ideal for 'mature-minded' travellers (there are a lot of rules and restrictions which helps to maintain a calm and peaceful space throughout the day. Easy enough walki into town, I had nice spacious attic room to myself with ensuite bathroom, and the Staff were pleasant and friendly and I was quite sad to eventually move on from such a relaxing environment and town. Highly recommend here :)

A full length mirror would be nice. Room only had a bathroom mirror.

I would've rated it 12 if I could - PERFECT!

This is the best backpackers hostel that I ever stayed in. Everything is on point: from our wonderful host, Jaqueline, to facility rooms which are very well-designed and surprisingly comfortable. This place felt like home for the few days that I stayed. Beds are comfy and rooms have lots of light and great windows for ventilation. Rooms smell good and there is no odour as is oftentimes the case in other hostels. Windows are also new so there is not that annoying smell of old wood. Bathrooms have lots of cabins so there shouldn't be any problems with waiting. They use a premium hand soap for guest, which I really appreciated! The common area is very pleasant and comfy and the swimming pool is clean and well-maintained. It is in a really good location close to the beach and hosts are very helpful regarding activity suggestions. In general, Hermanus is my fav place on the Garden Route so I advise you allocate as much time as you can for this town.

Comfortable and great value for money!

Jacqueline at reception was exceptional! Very friendly and gave good advice of what’s happening in the area and gave some recommendations. Rooms were clean and fans provided for the heat. Good water pressure. Comfortable beds. Family room had own fridge and kettle. Secure parking. Nice swimming pool. Short walking distance to cliff paths and restaurants.

The family room didn’t feel too private - which I guess one expects from a backpackers. It’s at the back gate, so plenty cars driving past when entering and exiting. We closed the blinds but then the wind kept blowing the blinds when the windows were open which made quite a noise. Closing the blinds left the room dark during the day because it’s a block out roller blind. I believe a revamp is imminent and hope this can be considered. Otherwise all good and we enjoyed our stay!

Excellent!

This is a very well run backpackers. We had a room for two with the shared bathroom a flight up. Both were clean. The common kitchen is very well-stocked and the common areas a pleasure. Super lounge area, but it is the courtyard that was most pleasing with seating outside, a pool and braai area. Noise is strictly controlled, so the accommodation is suitable for all ages. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Good wifi.

Fantastic, we are planning to visit again.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathrooms as well, kitchen was well kept not overcrowded at all.

The staff, Theodore and Sallman were amazing. She oriented us on what we can do in Hermanus and because of that we enjoyed our stay.

A well-organised accommodation spot that made me feel safe and at home.

Such a pleasant experience! The host, her son and their team are exceptionally accommodating and friendly. The bathrooms were spotless, the beds are comfortable, the charging port is convenient. I especially appreciated the signage to encourage guests to use earpods for music, video etc to show consideration for shared spaces and other guests. It is close to the town but nestled in a quiet suburb - perfect balance.

This was a wonderful introduction to Hermanus...I couldn't have chosen a better and more friendly place than Backpacker's and consider myself extremely fortunate to have stayed here... The staff were so pleasant and accommodating - including and especially the reception staff who went out of their way - going the 'extra mile' to see to it that guests were comfortable and that all was running smoothly. I found Backpacker's to be so clean and comfortable - and was really quite sad to leave but would stay here again - at a 'moment's notice'... Oh, I must just add - the presence of the dog, I believe her name is Chloe - was so lovely and made the Backpacker's house - a 'home from home' experience...! Room - excellent Cleanliness - exceptional Kitchen - everything that you would need...! Thoroughly enjoyable - and thank you so much...

Sweet staff and useful information provided. We took the room with a bathroom inside which was super large and very nice.

Great stay with this amazing host.

Great host, she is so friedly, if you need anything just ask, gives lots of recommendations for places to eat and see, she gave us a map which looked like crazy after a couple of minutes, since she wrote everything on it. The rooms were comfortable, beds nice and comfy, the main areas lovely furnished. So happy to stay here and would come back again just to be back.

Backpacking accomodation very well done

The Backpackers felt welcoming, open and relaxed. Jacqueline was a very welcoming host and we loved the comfortable relaxed feel of the living area and decorations. The backpackers is an easy walk to the restaurant hub and centre but also to more quirky places such as Ficks pool. We had dinner at 1905 and it was fantastic.

Outstanding Place to Stay in Hermanus

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in my world travels. I had my own room and bathroom—both clean and comfortable. Loved the communal spaces—all with lots of natural lighting, beautiful artwork, and lots of information on things to do locally. I’m so grateful to Jacqueline and Marco who went above and beyond with their hospitality, help with whale watching, and local suggestions. They are incredible hosts! Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here again!

A lovely experience, including the Fynarts festival, the coastal walks, restaurants and backpackers

It was convenient and provided all our needs. The manager was extremely helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to visit again.

A drying cloth for mugs would have been useful. The gate to the parking area could be fitted with a handle on the outside.
