Douglas Arms Hotel

Great location, good price

Check in process not at all clear, and also confusing for staff. But staff were incredibly helpful and got the check in sorted.

Douglas hotel is linked to the Burnett Arms across the road. Nice Indian restuarant on groud floor. No breakfast as such - though you could go across to the Burnett Hotel also cafes nearby.

In principle the check-in an room door lock system should work simply enough. However, I fould that my room (8) lock said 'locked' but it wasn't. A few minor niggles in the room e.g. the shower head didn't really fit the holder. Otherwise it was fine and met my needs.

The hotel accommodation was still a work in progress. It only officially opened at 3:00 p.m. on the day of our arrival. Needless to say, we had approximately 2 hours to wait to get (No.7) to our room. Stairways are not suitable for older people, the corridors are extremely narrow. No mirror in the bathroom. No hot water on the first day, sink partially blocked. No 13 amp sockets available to charge your phones! Their Restaurant was, however, 100%.

Great location Nice cheap and cheerful after reading the reviews on booking.com we didn’t know what to expect but we was pleasantly surprised the lady who booked us in was waiting at the door for us and was very helpful she came to the rooms to make sure we got in ok for 40.00 per room per night it’s great value for someone working away. The room is basic but more than what I expected double bed comfortable the tv was a little small and the remote was temperamental the bathroom was nice and clean shower worked well nice and hot and the tea and coffee making facilities was ok.
