Nice cottages in a cute country side village.

The property is really nice with many period features and a cosy feeling . Every cottage has all the tableware you need.

Unfortunately no firewood was provided even though cottages have a fireplaces which can be used. There also was no salt , pepper , napkins etc, so you need to bring everything with you.

The duvet covers were a bit 'loud'! :D Also it could do with a few more amenities in the kitchen, a coffee maker perhaps and some kitchen roll.

Very cozy, well maintained chalet. The decoration is pretty.

We had a baby with us, sometimes noise from floor when walking on top floor was a bit of concern, but not an issue eventually. The house was built 1802, maintained to its original - so charming and wood floor movements contributes to the whole amazing experience.

A lovely few days spent with friends in a quiet location.

Thé cottages were well equipped and comfortable. We were a group of friends who hired all three cottages. This was perfect for our purposes. Stephen was very friendly and helpful when we had any queries etc.

Excellent stay at River Nene Cottages (Barley Cottage)

Peaceful riverside location for walks to nearby villages yet just off A1 giving easy access to Stamford, Cambridge and Peterborough. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable with lovely stylistic touches and interesting features. Owners were on a rare break themselves but 'caretaker' Adrian did a fantastic job of answering any questions and kindly made time for a chat with us by the pool. Can't forget to mention Myshka, their friendly husky who was never far away when wanting a tummy rub. The late September sunshine every day was the icing on the cake. Overall a brilliant stay.

Just what we needed

Such a peaceful place with plenty of greenery and wildlife around - got to see plenty of cows, sheep, signets and even some seals! The garden area is so dreamy with the lushest grass, a magnificent willow tree next to the tranquil water.

Perfect stay for relaxing.

The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the nearby country side. The owner was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented on arrival and the garden was a lovely space for relaxing and enjoying sunshine. Well done on creating a cottage as lovely and cosy as this and good luck in a future. Definitely recommend!

A little paradise outside of Peterborough with exceptional hosts.

Location was exceptional next to the river Nene. Hosts were friendly and helpful, cottages and gardens were well kept containing everything you needed for a self catering stay.

Superb stay in cosseting surroundings that smooth away the stresses of daily routine drudgery ;-)

Stopped a couple of nights at the Coach Cottage and wish we had been able to extend our stay. It has everything you need for a comfortable self catered break if you want, but is also within easy walking distance of a nearby village and the cafe/pubs there. Obviously with the A1 nearby you have access to everywhere if you want to drive. The provisions within the cottage are excellent. fridge-freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, all cutlery, pots, pans, plates, dishes etc, a dishwasher, iron, Tv, DvD player, fast wi-fi and usb-a charging ports on every electrical socket in the cottage. The Information pack is something to behold, very detailed, beautiful photography and so much info. The garden & swimming pool are available to all guests and you can take a coffee whilst sat in the sunshine admiring the vast lawn and river views (if you're weather lucky). Since returning home I realise I have no photographs of the inside of this superb cottage as I spent so much time out and about photographing the location. Stephen and Philip are brilliant hosts and will make you feel so welcome and happy to share this idyllic location with them.

Getting onto the A1 through the roadworks (which were present during our stay), was a bit hair raising on day 1. On day 2 we could have cycled onto the A1 (NOT RECOMMENDED) there was so little traffic. I don't know if they are going to close the central reservation cross-over when the road works are completed, but if you're heading northbound from Water Newton, I would suggest going south for a couple of miles and crossing over the bridge before rejoining Northbound as the easier solution.

Perfect place to stay, immaculately clean with great facilities and very helpful and friendly hosts - nothing was too much trouble which was much appreciated! We enjoyed sitting round the pool and relaxing overlooking the beautiful grounds and river frontage. Hope to be back soon for more R & R.

wonderful and enjoyable little cottages set in a beautiful location

The location and the cottages.we stayed in were wonderful and just what we needed. The beds were comfortable and the living space and kitchen area was well serviced. So apart from providing your own supplies. The cottages had all we needed. Good that taxi service was able to reach. We did not stay long enough to really experience it, but the garden and pool area right by the river was beautiful and you could easily spend days enjoying the sun and family.

The mugs need to be bigger 😁. Unless I missed this in the instructions - it was not clear how to access the grounds of the property to begin with.

The location was great, the cottages were really cosy and pretty. The garden was gorgeous, very well kept with a nice swimming pool. The view with the river was very picturesque! Facilities were really good, we had a great BBQ!
