River Nene Cottages

Barley Cottage had a unique charm and a relaxing aura. It had many beautiful features such as the tasteful decoration of each room and exposed wooden beams. The cottage was exceptionally clean and very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. We had the most wonderful 3 nights and hopefully will be back soon

We could nothing to like about Barley Cottage.

The property is absolutely stunning, set in such a cosy, peaceful, and quiet location. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Both of the owners, Steven and Phillip, were incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and genuinely friendly, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The property itself was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We genuinely couldn’t fault a single thing about our visit. We had a fantastic experience and will most certainly be returning again. Highly recommended!

What a hidden gem. Our stay was super even for one night. The owners was super friendly and helpful. We arrived fairly late but were super lucky with the sunshine which let us enjoy the pool and eat alfresco! The setting is gorgeous! We will definitely be coming back again when we can

Really couldn’t fault anything it is a wonderful place.

We had the most stunning stay at the River Nene Cottages! Everywhere you looked was a picture to paint. Lots of nearby places to explore either on foot or a short drive away but even staying at the cottages and enjoying sitting by the pool was enough. Stephen and Phillip were very caring hosts who would recommend good spots to visit and cater to what we needed (especially ahead of the big BBQ night). The cottages were full of character and found in a nice clean state. Thankyou for the lovely weekend!

For any future guests, keep in mind this is an old cottage with lots of character. Meaning in the heat it gets hot, the floor boards will be creaky and it can be dark inside. But we loved it for this! Our time was mainly spent outside but the cozy evenings inside were lovely. There was a big emphasis on leaving the property clean, which we completely understood and we would anyway. However, if there is an expectation to leave it clean I would supply the cottage with more products to do so (eg bin liners, new sponges, a bath mat, sprays). The cleaning deposit could be re-thought also. The main event for this property is the swimming pool, especially over the hot bank holiday weekend we had. It could have been cleaned better and had the cover put over it overnight to stop the ducks flying in (as cute as they were).
