Hotel Canyon

The location was amazing, we didn’t have THAT MUCH of a problem with finding the hotel but that’s because we stumble upon the neighbor who have helped us. The rooms are exactly like on the pictures so I think you know what you get. Definitely beautiful views from the balcony. The host is very very nice and understanding

The walls were paper thin, couple next to us kept waking us up every night but not even because they were extremely loud but because the walls are so thin. We had to buy earplugs. Also we were promised separate bathroom but our bathroom was located on the hallway with is fine but someone was definitely using it and leaving us theirs black hair (I’m not even going to investigate from which part of the body the hair came), we are both blond so definitely not ours xD

Everything was perfect! The room and bathroom were clean, the balcony was beautiful, and the view from the balcony was magnificent. You can hear the beautiful sound of the river. It's right next to the beautiful old city center.

The only problem we had was parking; parking in the surrounding streets is paid and hard to find.

Fantastic location, helpful staff and peaceful. I had the whole upper balcony myself overlooking the gorge.

The room was basic but quite adequate considering the cost.

The location is good. It is in the heart of old tbilisi, and a lot of the main attractions that tourists will want to see are nearby. There is a very impressive view, as you would expect from the name. The room was clean and I appreciated that there was a kitchen with basic facilities, as this is not always provided by other places. The staff member was understanding when I was leaving and let me stay past check-out time as it was raining.

As other travellers have noted, there is absolutely no way of telling where the place is, and you will probably spend a very long time, possibly several days, looking for it. The check-in time is an estimate. Many travellers will be coming from outside the city (particularly the airport, and so it should be anticipated, and even expected, that they will arrive after the estimated time, as I did (after failing to find the property or even street). There need to be proper arrangements in place for when they don't. You should not be relying on the kindness of neighbours to phone the owner and even let people in, as was the case with me. After I checked in, I was later asked to clarify how long I was staying for and even if I had paid. This should already be known, and obviously would have been known if there had been a proper check-in. Similarly randomly asking guests if they are leaving (or 'going home') doesn't create a good impression at all, even if it looks like they are (I was carrying a suitcase). The upstairs balcony has a row of plants that died a very long time ago, and badly needs repainting. Somebody's son (I'm presuming the owner's) playing football loudly outside, in a way that made it impossible to do anything, isn't appropriate when you have paying guests, or even guests at all. If you want to do this, then it is probably best not to advertise it as a hotel, and to tell people that you will be living in their home and have to put up with family members who want to act accordingly. The upstairs bathroom door is still broken and the shower is also broken. The fact that this has already been reported on several occasions and hasn't been fixed over quite a long period of time doesn't create a good impression at all. Neither does the apparent lack of vacuuming upstairs and basic things like emptying bins. The location gives the accommodation great potential.
