We had a wonderful family stay at Mari Mari Dive & Lodge. A huge thank you to the whole team, and especially to Jess, who was so kind, helpful and amazing with our children. They absolutely loved her! She helped us organize our trip to the Mari Mari Cultural Village in Kota Kinabalu, including the transfer, and showed us how to enjoy the activities available at the lodge, such as kayaking, snorkeling and beach volleyball.
The location is magical — right on the beach, surrounded by jungle, with no roads, cars or noise. The rooms and facilities are simple and practical, but fit the character of this beautiful remote lodge perfectly. During the day there is no electricity or Wi-Fi; these are available in the evening and throughout the night. We actually loved this — it was a wonderful way to disconnect, slow down and enjoy quality family time.
The food was delicious and authentic local cuisine. We also loved the kittens, monkeys and cute goats! 🐒🐐
Small tip: meals are paid separately, so bring enough cash as card payment isn’t available.

Some rubbish can wash onto the beach depending on the wind and currents, but the team works incredibly hard every day to clean it up. A huge bravo and thank you to everyone!

Room was clean and it was surprisingly cooling at night. Snorkels and kayaks are included with the room rate, which is really nice.
Bathroom is outside of our room, which is odd. Water pressure on the shower is not too strong, even the bidet has stronger pressure. Rubbish on the beach and in the water is definitely an issue but I understand it's not the owner's fault, authorities need to do more to educate the people in the water villages nearby. Also, hopefully in the future the owner will consider adding snorkeling packages.
