Would absolutely stay here again!

We loved the location, the fact that it was family owned and everybody was very friendly. We love "Loaf" the cat and would stay again just for him! The little breakfast options were great for what we were doing. Also really like being able to pull up and park in front of our hotel room - convenient!

If you're expecting super fancy, it is not, but I would stay there again over any other place for the nostalgia, the friendliness and location. The beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed.

It was the perfect stay to create a real sense of travel and adventure.

First of all, the location was excellent. The property is conveniently located just a short distance down from Airport Mesa. Being in a lively area, we had no trouble finding places to eat nearby. When we asked the staff about doing laundry, they kindly informed us of a nearby laundromat. There was a coin-operated laundromat about a three-minute walk away, and in the same facility there was a large market, which was extremely convenient. The following morning, light refreshments such as muffins, chocolate bars, fruit, and drinks were provided. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize this and had breakfast in our room, but the selection looked quite generous.

There were no downsides at all.

A Little Known Local Gem

I usually stay in big name chain hotels, but the name intrigued me. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. A sweet young couple is building their life running a first rate little lodge. The most comfortable stay of this trip! Great room, comfy beds, fantastic value!

Enjoyed our stay. It's on the cheaper side of places to stay.

Staff-Thor was really nice and helped us plan a great trip! The place was quiet, and easy to find. Parking is right next to the room.

Bathroom can use a bit of an upgrade but all in all everything was great.

I don’t think I would book a stay here in the future.

My room faced the road. The doors and windows did not seal snuggly so there was a cold draft and noise from the road. Didn’t have hot water after another quest showered. Stayed in a dog friendly room that had carpet and smelled of dog urine. Sheets on the bed kept coming off the corners.

Location was great could easily walk to grocery stores and other amenities. Like the old lodge feeling, could walk directly out of my room with no stairs or hallways to go through.

Pretty bare bones, the TV reception or cable or whatever was breaking up. They are closed in the middle of the day, so when we checked out only the cleaning people were around, could not give keys in person nor get a receipt.

wonderful stay

The room was very cute and it was comfortable. The beds were super comfortable to sleep on. The unit for air conditioning and what on point. The location was easy to find and parking was easy. The noise was alright, you could hear a little bit of what was going on around you. Overall, was happy with my stay and will be staying again when I travel to Sedona.

The shower was a bit touchy, the knobs didn't work that well. The chairs in the room by the table was wobbly and felt unsafe to sit in. I feel that they could have wiped the walls and door in the bathroom a bit more.

Location-away from the busier downtown but many nearby conveniences in the more “regular business” side of town, close to hiking trail, accommodates pets (fee) with nice grassy field nearby, more affordable than many area lodgings.

good price for the area and fine for a short stay

nice location to be able to walk to some of the restaurants and be able to have a glass of wine without worrying about needing to get a ride back to your hotel. the person at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful.

we ended up in one of the front rooms (there are two that are on the front of the building) so anytime someone pulled in, even with the curtains closed, the light from their headlights illuminates the room, so not good for a light sleeper like myself. definitely not a modern room, but it was fine for just one night, especially considering the prices for other hotels in the area.

Location was not in the Old Town/ Uptown area which turned out to be great!! It’s on busy road, but we stayed towards rear #8 which was quiet from traffic noise. A guest moved in next door & her dog was yapping/barking the entire time she was moving stuff from her car to room. I finally went out & explained just because she thinks it’s cute while “ talking”, we certainly didn’t appreciate the noise! Then she left the barking dog in room & went out😡 We listened for over an hour & then went to office. He IMMEDIATELY Called her & said she either takes dog with her when she leaves or she can’t stay at hotel. She came back & packed up… not sure if she moved rooms or left, but we had quiet again. Really appreciated staff handling this issue.

Stay here - it was great!

We liked this place. The chap on reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. Fridge, microwave, bath with plug. Quiet - no noise from the road overnight and we were in the closest room to it. It had a pool - we didn't try it. The grab and go breakfast was great for us - yoghurt and fruit available as well as patisseries. The internet speed was by far the best we have had on this trip - something ridiculous like 290!

Just watch the parking space outside the room - it seemed a bit short for our standard car as if our trunk end was sticking out too far.

Sugar Loaf Lodge met our expectations, a comfortable place to stay, sufficient breakfast & hot tub!

Everything about our room was comfortable including having an ample size table with 2 chairs for some meals. Complimentary breakfast as advertised (better than basic) & we supplemented with a few more items. Also, bonus, was the outdoor hot tub; much appreciated after a tiring day of hiking in the wonderful red rocks nearby. The location was great for finding convenient dining. I definitely would return.
