the house was filthy. The host tried to demand my credit card and physically assaulted me. AWFUL

I was given a code, there’s no deadbolt for security on the door and When I arrived at 9:30 PM, there was a man in the home that said he was the hosts boyfriend, the house was filthy with dirty dishes in the sink, mouse poop everywhere looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months, and this man was in there with some sheets, trying to strip the beds, saying he was trying to get it ready before our arrival. The Host then also came into the house demanding my credit card saying she felt like we hadn’t paid enough money. we would’ve left immediately, but there was nowhere else to book for the night.After finally getting them to agree to leave the house and deal with it in the morning we attempted to get a couple of hours of sleep, we were not able to because there were rodents in the house running around, we went out and attempted to leave only to find our vehicles had been blocked in on purpose by the hosts. When we found the host who lives downstairs to ask them to move their vehicle, she refused to do so until I gave her my credit card, I told her I wasn’t giving her my credit card and she assaulted me. Then her boyfriend came out and they got into a physical fight hitting each other in front of me and my family while our cars were still blocked in the driveway. We had to call the police who ended up coming and had to pull their guns on the host’s boyfriend, again all of this while my family was still blocked in the driveway. Finally, after giving a statement to the police, they had our car unblocked and we left. All of this and bookings refuses to give us a refund until the host tells them it’s OK. This is by far the worst experience that I’ve ever had.

I reccomend looking elsewhere

The location was convenient. There’s TV with streaming services and Wi-Fi.

The cottage was quite dirty for there being a $180 cleaning fee. Cobwebs in multiple corners of the house, dead smashed bugs on the floor (we understand bugs are unavoidable here but this was obviously just left) dead bugs in the window sills. There was no trash can in the kitchen, multiple heavily used bars of soap in the shower. The property we reserved also was advertised as 2 queen beds, 1 sofa bed. Upon arrival there was 1 queen bed, and 1 sofa bed, that hardly qualifies as a queen. I was told that that the sofa bed was the other queen bed, but this is not what the listing says, and in my opinion that is false advertising.

There is absolutely nothing to like about this property. Avoid at all costs.

I wish we had chosen to stay in the trash bin behind 7-11 over this absolute hell hole. Horrid people and accommodations. Just stay in your car on the side of the road. Thankful to have survived it. It would be a mercy for everyone if this abomination were cratered by an astroid. Avoid at all costs.

Great value but not for everyone.

It was of great value and close to the airport.

However, it was quite difficult to find, as for my particular case, I ubered around so I had to deal with the driver being lost many times. We requested an early check-in, so the maid didn't have time to properly clean the place, so it left quite an impression on us when we first went in, though that was on us. When we came back later in the day, it was much better, but I left a moderate rating instead of satisfied because it kind of depicted a hotel level cleanliness in the photos. It was definitely clean, but don't expect hotel level for that price. Personally, it was a great deal for myself (young male and ofter traveling traveller), but this time it was a family vacation, so me and my brother were fine, but my mother wasn't very happy about it. Hence, not family friendly; kids, maybe, older people who are used to a more city like comfort, go to a hotel.

Hosts were incredibly flexible when we found that our original rental property was above “altitude” for diving and set us up with this place at very short notice.

The maid service missed a couple spots but still the place was clean and tidy.

No only was the house dirty, the floors were sticky dirty. The entrance to the property was nothing like the picture, the property was overgrown. The bed was ridiculous, it folded into a taco when you laid on it. When I called to complain I was told well it is just for your employees. It doesn't matter if it is for my dogs. A dirty house and taco bed and a owner that says what part of NON REFUNDABLE don't you get. This rental should NOT BE on booking.com Some poor soul is going to be out the money like I am and this is not fair. These people are a disgrace to booking.com

This place made my stay in Hawaii not very good. I could not relax in this dirty home.

Very dirty, no washcloths,no soap or hair dryer, only one small air conditioner in the bedroom and post said air conditioned house, yard very overgrown and a mess, outside table set in the weeds, had to buy a pillow because pillowcases did not look clean, very loose toilet seat, tv did not work. I would never recommend this place. disgusting.

By far the worst and dirtiest rental we have ever experienced

Dirty beyond belief, trash outside and inside. Bathroom still has last guests toothpaste and shampoos out, only had two towels that were old and stained, dirty kitchen rag dried onto the counter, air conditioner vent had to be washed. A large closet that looked like a place for a washer and dryer was full of dirty rags, garbage, and very used brooms etc. when I tried to reach anyone about the condition of the unit no one would respond. All and all - disgustingly dirty

!!!DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!! The overall condition of the place unfortunately did not match the descriptions on the website at all. E.g. one towl was wet, one stained and the other one smelled badly! Also, I'm not quite sure if the bed sheets were changed. The shower as well as the bathroom floor was full of hair and even though we had the windows open for quite some time the weird smell of the rooms lingered. Moreover the front yard is full of rubbish. This is simply not acceptable!

Had to complain to the owner and booking.com to have a decent stay.

The location was nice, the yard was like the jungle with chicken and other birds. It was a nice size place. I was given two extra towels. When contacting Booking . com to complain, they had the owner bring all the basic supplies that were not there. I really appreciated that the owner was willing to bring all the missing supplies.

The place was dirty, dirty rags left from others. No garbage can, mold on the coffee grounds left behind. Only two bath towels for two people for 4 nights, no hand towels or wash cloths no hand soap, just bottle filled with water, no paper towels, no glasses and one broken mug was the only cup we had. When complained to owner at first she told me that it was a privileged to have what we did and she mentioned that the place had internet and TV and how much she paid for it. I felt like I was arguing with a child about it. Not what I expected. Not sure how they keep business with that attitude. Also there is one full size bed and a futon. No laundry like the booking said.

Exceptional

Our stay was amazing. The location and privacy of this small house were the best part of our stay. We enjoyed our ability to come and go as we pleased, and the house was located near all places of interest. Editha and Victor were wonderful managers for the property. They helped us with any and all issues we had related to getting into the home as well as giving us great ideas on what places to visit on the Big Island. They made are stay both memorable and enjoyable. We would love to stay at their property again. Thank you two for making this vacation such a peaceful and relaxing time. We love the Big Island because of the warmth we received during our visit.

Location is not right on the beach but the price was much more in our budget for an entire 1 bedroom/1 bath house! Homegrown bananas were left for us. Spacious place. Jungly garden with table in front to sit outside. Seemed like the refrigerator was new. A/C.

I had not received the door code prior to arrival and needed to call and wait for reply. (About 15 min.) My cleanliness standards are very high so I noticed the little bits of dirt here and there. Also seemed like the rugs had not been vacuumed. There was a broom so we used that to sweep up.

A horrible nightmare!!!!!

DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY. I was told by Editha that the property was not available when I got there and she put me in a roach motel and said it would be just for one night cause she over booked the cottage. The next morning, she said I had to stay in the roach motel again, cause she had actually over booked the cottage for two nights. What a scam.......I couldnʻt stay in the roach motel another night and asked for a refund. Editha just hung up on me. DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY....BIGGEST NIGHTMARE EVER!!!!!!!!

The property that I was put in was roach infested, the toilet was clogged when I arrived and there was a stench throughout the unfinished, bare minimum apartment. Most horrible experience ever! DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY. The property manager Editha is a scammer and a lier! When I told her I was cancelling my reservation, she said, "Too bad you already paid" and hung up on me. SAVE YOURSELF FROM A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE! DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY!

What Breakfast? Location was good. It was a cozy cottage.

No Laundry available as advertised, the driveway was full of rubbish, killed 4 spiders in shower, metal headboard was detached from bed, bed had bed bugs, only three towels for 7 nights, Kitchen was not adequately stocked with good pots and pans or utensils, coffee Cups were cracked and leaking, no drinking cups available to drink juice or Milk, dining table and chairs were falling apart. I would not have stayed there had I known it was this bad. That is why I asked to see the unit first, but was not allowed. Very disappointed!!!!!

Nice simple place to stay and base some fun times in Kona

The place was clean and had sufficient supplies. The real star was the property. great plants and even a large avocado tree out back. It was a good stay.

The original place was over booked so we had to stay in a different location the first night then transition to the actual listed stay. The previous people left it pretty messy so it also took them a while to clean before we could get in. Once at the place it was good though. Despite the previous people being messy it was super clean

Cute, comfy cottage

Cute place! Private setting, lovely garden. Convenient location. Layout great, worked perfect for us. Owner was friendly and helpful.

Wifi password they supplied did not work. Slight bad odor in bedding, but rest of place smelled good. Some minor dirty floors and shower basin and gnats in fridge. Couple of towels were dirty/looked used. Air conditioner right next to bed made that room pretty cold in order to cool rest of space. But all minor things.

Better Than Expected

I liked the location & the various plants on the property. I expected the place to be a bit unclean from previous reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was clean & neat. Also, when we requested more towels, the host responded by leaving an extra set the same day.

Not sure if this is typical of an apartment accommodation, as opposed to a hotel accommodation, but there weren’t many toiletries. There was hand soap, hand sanitizer & one big bottle of body wash. No shampoo or conditioner or dish washing items. We went out to buy dishwashing soap, a sponge & dish towel for dishes. After the fact, we found a ziploc of very kt tile dishwashing liquid under the sink. If you plan on using the kitchen, keep that in mind! Also, the pillows were flat. My boyfriend had a stiff neck the entire time. Other than that, the accommodation was great!
