We just needed a place to spend the night before going to Yosemite and it was the cheapest in town. Everything was ok clean, we had heaters in each room. Shared bathroom and kitchen.
This is by no means a fancy hotel but was good for what we needed it for. Good area right on hwy 120 in town.
We were the only ones in the red house so we did not share anything, but if people rented the dorm inside then we would have shared bathroom and kitchen with all of them.
Staff was very friendly. Even let us use the back room with a table to eat out food. And offered us free hot tea.
Booking.com says private bathrooms but they are shared, no dinning area, no closets. We stayed in the red house.

The young man at the front counter was very friendly and thorough with informing us of the facilities and procedures. The beds were comfy and the shower was great.
The kitchen was rather sparse on equipment, no sheet pans for roasting or baking, There were no basic (i.e. salt, pepper, sugar) condiments or 'free shelf' for enhancing our meals'

The hostel staff was very welcoming. They also showed us how to get around and use the hostel facilities. The hostel is also located very close to restaurants. Highly recommend the Mountain Sage Coffee just next door.
The only two downsides of this hostel is 1) the bed mattress was very hard and uncomfortable for us, and 2) due to the location being in the main road, one could hear the sound of traffic very clearly.
