The Inn at Harbor Shores

I would not have gone if I knew the whole first floor was close for a remodel.

The rooms are nice and big enough for two pack and plays for little kids. Good location and easy to get to beach and downtown. Hotel has two pools which is also a plus.

The hotel was great and all staff interactions were extremely friendly!

Wish I could easily attach photos here. Charmless, tired, worn sleeping rooms, standards below current Holiday Inn yet charging Ritz Carlton prices. Casegoods battered at corners and edges, trim and wall paint (an off-yellow?) needs touch up, uncleaned sconce fixtures dust covered in room and dirty in bathroom, toilet bowl rim interior not cleaned (mold growth), curtains require a fight to slide along track, plugged air con exterior drain lines left to pool on balcony and drip onto rotting and faded wood trim neglected for repainting since built, toilets flush so loudly that I hear nearby and above bathroom activity, sliding bathroom door created no sound break for any activity echoing within as if it's wide open anyway, fabric bed platform cover stained and torn, bed platform's floor support entirely scuffed. Overall an institutional, 20 year old feeling sleeping room embarrassed by any modern Springhill Suites at over 2x the price. Sink drain plugged to a mere trickle upon arrival, maintenance came next morning. Housekeeping skipped us, gone for day once we returned from town, receptionist unable to follow through with inquiry, so no clean up and a couple hand towels changed - give an extra to start not merely 2 hand and 4 shower sized initially. No coffee or text in room "due to staining incidents" yet reception clerk could not bother to inform us about lobby coffee service. Isolated location, nothing is a walk away. With an event complicating parking in town, we used the hotel's shuttle service. Hotel backyard sits on a bay connected to Lake MI, so we see plenty of boats, plus a large scale commercial gravel yard operation on the water's other side with all types of mounded stone related construction materials for use in your road building plans. Hotel is crawling with little kids, crying and knocking on room doors as pranks, apparently with parents who themselves never learned to use quiet voices in hallways of hotels with doors that block no hallway sounds. Stay elsewhere unless you require both indoor and outdoor pools or you're maybe attending a wedding on site. So many great, creative dining choices off property, too, for less cost than the captive place. I can't believe I fell for the hype and paid this crazy much when I could have stayed at an utterly charming and updated competitor right in town. Ugh.
