The Staff
Had to move from one room to another to small and they’re were kids hanging out in the hallway morning and night I didn’t feel safe so we got a early checkout we didn’t stay

I can't say I liked anything about my stay at extended stay america suites chicago midway.
The room wasn't clean, I saw debris on the floor immediately upon entering the room. There was a crack on the bedside table upon closer look the entire top part of the table was just sitting on top of the table it wasn't attached or glued to the table. The sink in the bathroom filled with water whenever I turned on the faucet. I showered my first night their while using the sink after my shower it filled up to the top and didn't drain out quickly, it was the next morning before the water completely drained out the sink. I tried using the bathroom sink the next morning and it started to fill up again, I finally had to use the kitchen sink to brush my teeth. I did not stay my second night. I spoke to an employee who said her name was shellane/shallayne (not sure of the spelling) I told her about the faucet in the bathroom and attempted to show her the pictures in my phone, she sat there looking at me blank and said I don't know why you're telling me that. I told her because will the employee who checked me in the night before said I had to keep a card on file for incidentals and I don't want to be charged for anything I'm not responsible for, to which she continued to look at ne blank. I tried to hand her the key cards, she wouldn't take them, she rudely stated put them in the basket. I told her I wanted to check out (it was 9:50pm) she said she could not check me out it's been a full day, I explained I'm supposed to check out by 11am the next morning but I'm not staying a second night I just want to be checked out and given a receipt stating I've checked out of the room. She refused to check me out she said the manager (ashley) would have to check me out tomorrow morning, I explained that I would not be coming back in the morning to be checked out to which she rudely replied that's why I'm leaving a note.

Morning attendant was very unprofessional talking to me from behind the wall while she sat down instead of being at the counter talking to me directly. Heat wasn’t working and the door was broken to where we had to unlock it upside down

The room is comfortable and clean. There was no excessive noise from other rooms. Miraculously, unlike other accommodations of the same level in the world, the TV set is usable and its remote control has new batteries.

The property was in a good location and the nighttime employee was very friendly and helpful.
The room that I stayed in (234) had no working phone. Every time I needed something for my room, I had to go to the front desk. The kitchen sink and the bathroom sink leaked water every time we turned on the faucet. The room was a bit of a disappointment. More than likely, I probably won’t stay at this hotel again.

As always the staff. This is my home away from home my(hideout). Most time I really enjoy my stay. The location is very convenient for me.
The room #136, has some electric issues. I meant to report the problem to staff. I loved the room, just didn't have a tub.

I do like that the property provides a stove and refrigerator.
They don’t claim very well. You have to bring all your towels to the front in order to replace towels. They don’t provide a hot breakfast. They just give you breakfast bars.

The only thing I liked was parking. Location isn’t bad but you have to dangerously cross road to take a bus in two street away.
Breakfast was just coffee and muffin which shouldn’t be considered as breakfast. Room is not clean especially bed. I saw many black stuff below the bed sheets, looked like dead bug. No shampoo so you have to ask shampoo bar at front desk. Non smoking room but smells like smoking room very strong smell. The room is nothing like photo in booking.com. Facility is very very old and elevator button you have to press many times to get it to work. Shower curtain doesn’t sustain opened because curtain rail is tiled. Window curtain rail is broken. Microwave is very dirty and especially kitchen air fan is very very dirty like nobody had bothered to clean. Room phone had something sticky on the handle. It was just too many bad things but especially dead bugs in bed. And I’ve paid $179 for this room(2 full bed)… can’t believe.

The air conditioning was good, one of my rooms didnt have power. I told the front desk he told me where the breaker box was located what if a wire or something was loose and something hurt me. The fridge in the rooms were rusty and the didnt look to clean

Front desk staff at check in wasn’t capable enough to do the job. Clearly cracking under pressure during high volume check ins. Gave me keys, we got all the way up to the 3rd floor and they didn’t work. It’s hot, and I needed rest so that was irritating.

It is not clean and or sanitary at all!! The room when we first walked in smelled like vomit and as we were looking for it, we couldn’t find anything, but it seems like it was stuck on the carpet and it gave a horrendous smell. Another thing about the hotel that we did not like is that it does not provide any water. You would have to purchase it yourself through the vending machine. To add on the room is very dark and dull. And as well as I was going to complain to the receptionist over the phone while I’m in my room, it doesn’t even have a book of the number to the front lobby and or receptionist and or any services. It was literally just a phone in our room. The shampoo is literally just a small circle bar and that’s all. There is nothing like body wash. Does that single soap. And lastly, when I was going to ask a question to the receptionist, there was no one at the front desk. Me and my husband were literally looking for someone that works there. As we were waiting for around four minutes we lost Hope and just went out. And another reason to not book this hotel is the card has issues when using them. Me and my husband literally had to replace the card three times in our three night stay in the hotel…. Every time we would go down and tell them that the key isn’t working they would end up giving us a whole new key and this happened three days in a row. What kind of hotel is this place… I’d rather book an any other hotel but this. So ghetto and unsafe. Me and my husband were placed on the third floor and we kept smelling an awful smell in the hallway and elevator. It seems as if they don’t clean. What scared me was that I was looking for cameras in the third floor and noticed there were no cameras. I don’t know if they’re hidden or anything, but I did didn’t see any which scared me and made me feel unsafe, as anyone is willing to come in and or walk into their rooms.

When I got there at 2:55 there was no one there although they had a sign saying they would be right back. So I waited about 10-15 minutes and then asked a housekeeper did she know where the front desk person was and she said she didn't know but she would probably be back soon. At this time the lady for the front desk came out from somewhere and said she would be with me in a minute but it took her another 10 minutes and by then the front desk guy had came in and he was punching in while she was asking him something ignoring the fact that I had been there waiting almost 20 minutes and she then proceeded to leave so I had to wait until he was punched in and then he didn't even say ok I'm ready I literally had to say who is gonna check me in and then he said he would now I had been standing and then sitting while the lady was walking back and forth in the back when she could have checked me in but no I had to wait for him so I got checked in about 3:30 or later. The room was very clean and good however on the 2nd night the fuse blew and I tried to call the front desk but the phone didn't work so I called the 1-800 and they said they couldn't do anything because it was booked by booking.com so I had to put some clothes on and go downstairs to the front desk where the nice gentleman came upstairs to reset the fuse and he showed me what to do if it blows again. With all that being said I will go back there for the convenience, the area, the price and the continental breakfast, the comfortable bed, the clean room and plenty of towels with all the amenities like microwave fridge and iron. Property was very clean and staff was very nice.
There was a big music festival in town and they were grossly unprepared because the rooms were not ready till almost an hour later. I had booked two rooms and they separated and turned it into three rooms without ever asking me. It does say breakfast, but it’s really not a meal….kind of like granola bars and snacks only.
