The location , the staff , & the room.
How confusing it was to get to the pool. But once there it was so nice!

The location is excellent.
Was not warned there would be the loudest music ever on the roof for 3 solid hours on a MONDAY night. Ear plugs did nothing. I get having music, just why so over the top loud?

Location, stores, restaurants very good, clean and quite. Hospitality was outstanding and clean outside as well inside. Safe was the most important issue and it was.
The room heater is broken can not set it to what i needed and didn't heat. The shower water doesn't stay in one position of hot to choose.

The view of the ocean from my room. Ability to just walk across the street to enjoy ocean views.
Very old and run down property. Beds were too hard and unable to sleep. Elevators would only go to certain floors and on my floor there was no direct elevator so we had to carry our luggage up about 10 steps to access our floor once we got out of the elevator. Windows rusty in bathroom.

I booked this place for the location as I'm sure many people do. It's right at the Sea lion rookerie and coast walking path. La Jolla Cove is absolutely beautiful and the view from the room, 4rth floor, was gorgeous.
Let's face it this place is super dated, and run down. The room was ok. The bed was not comfortable for me, sorry. There's no central heat. Yes you might want heat in your hotel room. The elevator is just creepy. Again, the staff are great, but this place needs work.

The walk to beach
Everything it was dirty, it smells lots of dust in air vent hot water keeps going on an off carpet was stained badly just very dirty and gross facility. Way to pricy for what's inside the walk to the beach is the only good part but we didn't even stay cause we were too grossed out

The staff were very nice, and the hotel (really a motel) is right next to the beach. It's a very convenient location to the beach, but going into La Jolla will be either up a steep hill or a few flights of stairs. This wasn't a problem for us, but it may be a problem for others.
"La Jolla Cove Hotel and Suites" is also known as La Jolla Cove Hotel or La Jolla Cove Motel. It's clear this is an old motel with a small new building attached (the "suites"). Most of the rooms are in the old motel building, where it seems like every room was 30% renovated before progress stopped.
Our room was almost $500/night, and when we arrived there was dirt all over the floor (unforgivable even in an old building). The bed was uncomfortable and creaky. There was no WiFi in the room despite the front desk saying there is free WiFi (they clarified, it's in some parts of the hotel, but they don't know which rooms). The elevator appears original to the motel and is barely functional (the latest inspection certificate in the elevator expired over 2 years before our stay). The shower had terrible water pressure, with at best half the water coming out of the bathtub faucet when the shower is on. There was nowhere to hang wet towels.
My partner and I were in La Jolla for a wedding, and once we arrived, we had no other option for hotel. I would never stay in this hotel/motel again – at any price point. Highly recommend NOT staying here.

The wedding venue was beautiful and location.
Room I booked was NOT what it looked like in the pictures. They lure you in with the pics, and then, BANG got you!! YOU PAID PREMIUM PRICES FOR A RUN DOWN ROOM.
Stairs are dangerous, be safe.

The location is great!
There are two sides to the property, a new side and old side. DO NOT stay in the old side! It is in desperate need of renovations!

The staff at La Jolla Cove Suites were incredibly friendly and helpful. They truly did their best to assist us despite the challenges.
The upgraded room, which we moved to, offered a beautiful view and was clean and well-maintained, reflecting the online pictures accurately.
The initial room had a malfunctioning elevator, forcing us to use the stairs and causing inconvenience.
The first room did not match the online photos; it had old carpets, stains in the tub, and an overall worn-out feel.
We also had to pay an extra $120 for the upgraded room, which was an unexpected additional cost.
*The bonus questions were responded based on the initial room reservation, and the pictures shown were nothing like what I walked into.

Location, location, location!
The pool is fine.
Location is key!
The facilities are old and need renovations (they are working on some). The rooms are clean, but sometimes, they don't feel like it.
The last 3 times we've stayed (annually for the La Jolla Cove Swim), there has been a wedding on the top roof. It gets noisy if you are trying to go to bed early.
The roof deck is amazing, but you can't go up there if there is a planned event (which is common).
Parking can be difficult.

Very spartan furnishings. Not a comfortable couch. What was there was old and just repainted. Not reflective of price

The location is perfect. The hotel has its own parking. We stayed in the old part of hotel and it needs some repairs. But we still enjoyed the stay with beautiful ocean view. The staff were really great and supportive. 10 goes to staff members
It would make a big difference if the hotel had blackout curtains. The light from outside was too bright

Walls are pretty thin. A lot of noise from hallway. We were supposed to get a king but ended up with a queen

Just walking distance to the cove is pretty amazing.
The room was nice, but It's not clear that there are other apartment units that are accessed form the back street. The parking for these unites is also extremely minited

The room we got when we first arrived was not renovated, old, needed repairs and was uncomfortable but we were moved the next day to a much nicer newly renovated room and loved and enjoyed the rest of our stay. Management and a couple of staff members went out of their way to fix this issue and make us happy. Mgt even compted our parking for the 2 days.
The room we got when we first arrived was not renovated, old, needed repairs and was uncomfortable. It was awful. After I went to the staff about how it didn't look like what I saw online and was very disappointed they stepped up and moved us to a much nicer renovated room.

Clean rooms and prompt service from front desk.
We rented a suite that was not renovated. The windows did not open, the countertops where all chipped. The worst part is that there was not an air conditioner. The bedrooms had a window unit that was not enough for the area. Very dissapointing not to be informed of no air conditioning. That is a detail that should not be overlooke. So we had to pay more to move into a unit with a/c. That is another huge inconvenience.

Bait and switch: a part of the hotel is beautiful and new. There’s another building that is trash. Our room was in the trash building. Very disappointed.
The building is in terrible contiions; the unit was as clean as the cleaning staff could make it but the furniture was used, dirty, scratched. They should be ashamed.

The location is great. No need to drive, restaurants are in walking distance and La Jolla cove is directly across the street.
Regular suites are outdated. The cove is really busy from morning until night so you hear a lot of traffic.

RAIN SHOWER HEAD ON CEILING ONLY! SHOULD HAVE THE OPTION OF A REGULAR WALL SHOWER HEAD AS WELL!

The view.
The suite we had was old. You could feel the tacks in the carpet’s edge where it meets the hard surface floor. Upper level parking is just an alley behind the property and there is no room to park. The staff was rude and not helpful with directions late at night.

Location to the “beach” was good
Very run down, the rooms don’t look nothing like the photos. The suites do not have a tv in the 2nd room nor a ac unit so it gets hot and humid. It does have a small floor fan but nothing to sit it on and it doesn’t agitate, it’s a still standing fan. There was a wedding party on the floor above us which lasted into the late night hours, the music and people walking around kept my kids up. The room itself wasn’t very clean, the water pressure was very poor, while taking a shower the hot water Will get extremely hot out of no where for about 20 sec then it’ll go back to the temp you set it as. To me, the price definitely is not worth it

The sliding door would not close the deck was sticky and full of bird poop I had no shampoo in the shower the blankets we got for my daughter that was sleeping on the couch were old and hard and itchy.

The new renovated side looked nice but we were put in the old dirty unrenovated side.
Our room was old and dirty. The room was kind of expensive and definitely did not get what we paid for.

I liked that the hotel is right across the street from the beach. Also the room was spacious.
The pictures online are from the new section of the hotel. While the room we stayed in wasn’t as nice as the new rooms, it wasn’t that bad it was just a bit outdated. Our place had 2 bathrooms and two bedrooms but it only had one old couch (that made me itchy) that was only big enough for 2 adults. For a family room I feel the living room could use at least a chair or two more.
Didn’t take pictures but the carpet tiles were coming off in some sections, our tub had a big rust stain . The entry doors slam shut, we were woken up at 5am by our neighbors whose door kept slamming .

The room was not what I expected ,paid a lot for what it was. Had a bad smell the bathroom door didn’t work. Very disappointed in the room. I have stayed the the same hotel but renovated part and that room was great.
