Just OK- we normally stay in our RV, that was not an option this year due to husbands health

Our room was downstairs. Which we asked for downstairs. But no view of beach - tucked in a small room in the back. For $800+ for 4 nights it was not what we expected. I could not eat breakfast there, host said there was nothing gluten free on the menu. Very disappointing.

This is our second time satying at the Sunset Inn.. I am sure we ill be back. The location is perfect for all the day travels we had planned. The Inn was close to good restaurants but the Inn's breakfast was outstanding. Really enjoyed talking with the the other guests as we ate. Very quiet and secure.

Liked the hotel very much, but had a terrible customer service experience (see negative comments)

This was a very nice place and we enjoyed our stay very much. We were there in the slow season, but we enjoyed the quietness of the town, and it was very convenient for us for our visit to Hearst Castle and the coastal towns surrounding. Unfortunately, in spite of the nice facilities, I had a negative overall experience which is explained in the other comment.

Everything about the facility was great, but we had a negative overall experience due to being overcharged for our room. We booked a Queen room because the King seemed like not a good value for us. When we checked in, we were offered a King upgrade for $50. I asked if that charge was for the entire 3 day stay (not a per night charge) and was told that, yes it wa $50 for the whole time. This seemed like a great deal, so we took it. My credit card was charged for $160, but I didn't think much of it, since hotels frequently place a hold for incidentals which is later refunded. But it turned out, this was not for incidentals, they acutally charged us $50 per night (plus tax). I called the place to explain that this is not what we were offered, but they said there was "nothing they could do" and the policy was for the upgrade to be a per night charge. They thought the employee must have made a mistake in offering us the upgrade for a single up-charge. AND YET THEY WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY OFFERED US. This seems like a terrible bait and switch to me, so I'm pretty upset with their customer service. I filed a dispute with my credit card company, but they came back in favor of the hotel, so apparently there is nothing more to be done. My advice would be to find another place to stay, one that will stand behind what they say. Especially so, since their hotel was not at all full when we stayed there, and good customer service would have cost them NOTHING. They were not going to sell that more expensive room anyway, so why not stand behind what we were told?? Seems like crazy bad service to me.

Gorgeous property, rooms are so spacious and clean, the spa tub n the bathroom is amazing. Breakfast is delicious, the staff are so friendly, and a beautiful view from the balcony! Within walking distance to everything in this cute little town. I love this hotel!

One of the best stays we've had

The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable from the first second, and we several many nice chats with them during our stay. The rooms were really great: both large in size and well furnished. The style of decoration gave a luxurious feel without being too much. We also had a nice private patio. Cayucos is a lovely town. The location of the property along the main street is ideal. Easy to access by car and a comfortable walking distance to the beach and the pier, as well as to restaurants and shops. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the complimentary afternoon cookies delivered to our room! We only stayed for one night as we were just passing through. We ended up feeling that we should have stayed longer, which pretty much says it all.

Everything was great! Delicious breakfast, warm cookies in the evening. Staff was very friendly and made us feel at home. Our room was amazing and very spacious. The rooms have a DVD player and a big selection of movies to borrow in the lobby. The beds were perfect! We will definitely be back.

An excellent time spend in Cayucos at the Sunset Inn

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Sunset Inn in Cayucos. The breakfasts were great and the friendliness of the staff was awesome. Every evening fresh cookies were left in the room. The bed was comfortable and it was clean and inviting. We will come back for sure.

The only thing that was a bit strange was the very high sinks in the bathrooms. But not a big deal...
