EVEN Hotel Denver Tech Center-Englewood

We were in a road trip over July 4th weekend and the rates in Denver proper were really high. So we stayed here at the Even hotel in the Denver tech center. It was great. The staff were fantastic, the rooms were clean and well appointed. And it was an easy jump from the hotel into Denver for Casa Bonita and Meow Wolf which were our focus while we were in town.

They didn’t have staff for the kitchen and so I paid for breakfast that I never was able to get. However, pleasant place and staff. I would return.

Beds are so comfortable

I drive 6 hours to Denver regularly for ethnic grocery shopping, and stay overnight at a different hotel each time. My room in the EVEN Hotel was spacious, with new fixtures, and very unusually, some yoga and workout gear in the room. It was a pleasant surprise for the price, $96 all in for the night, through the Agoda app. When I reached the Hotel at 10 pm, I was looking forward to resting. Decaf coffee helps, and the room had a single cup coffeemaker with decaf pods, so I as elated. But the coffeemaker didn’t work. The front desk said nothing could be done about it until Maintenance came in the next morning. So, I used the complementary machine in the lobby; which had decaf. (When I returned, coffee in hand, to my room, my key wouldn’t work. Someone had inadvertently disabled it. That was an unwelcome annoyance given my fatigue.) I explicitly chose decaf in the instructions. Unfortunately, it wasn’t decaf. As a result, I was up all night, which was potentially dangerous for my 6-hour drive back the next day. I explained all this to the staffer when I checked out at 9:30 am on September 12, 2026. There was neither sympathy nor apology, which was quite shocking, as an apology — for this degree of discomfort to the customer — is generally the instinctive reaction of a properly-trained staffer. Instead, she began pointing the finger at her colleague who was in charge of the coffee machine, and at the fact that they had only one staff member on hand. I pointed out that perhaps understaffing and lack of training were the problems. At this time, she asked me not to raise my voice. I hadn’t. So I said, “You have my feedback, and I will put it in a review”, and walked away. This tactic — of asking the customer, without justification, not to raise their voice — is unprofessional and offensive. While it is rare, it is not unknown among staff without integrity who are caught out in a mistake or deficiency for which they prefer not to take responsibility. The tactic generally has the effect of provoking the customer into precisely what they are being accused of — anger. And of covering up the provider’s negligence or error in a war of words between provider and customer. The EVEN Hotel has superb rooms for the price, but the guest’s experience can be ruined, as mine was, by inadequate, inept, or rude staff. I urge the EVEN Hotel to staff its hotels fully, and to train the staff properly.
