Excellent motel style accommodation with friendly and accommodating host

Really helpful and understanding host. We had explained that we would be arriving on the ferry from Prince Rupert a little after midnight. Despite the late hour the motel was very happy to receive us. We had a comfortable room with sufficient beds for the four of us. Kitchenette and fridge, although we didn't use these as there were drinks (tea, coffee, chilled water) and even continental style breakfast available in the reception area. Would we recommend? Yes. Would we stay again? Definitely!

Two double beds rather than one double and two twin, but we knew this would be the case, as as it seems to be usual across Canada at our budget end of the market we were happy to work with this.

Rundown and smelly. We left and found a different place to stay

The location is down a road that has a huge scrap car facility. Beside it is an RV rental that people live in year round and across street is fish hatchery and river were fish coming up. As the fish were all dying they smelled horrible and could be smelt in room. Room was dirty. Lots of cobwebs outside door of room.

Best price in Port Hardy that meets the basic requirements for ferry travel.

The hotel had the last room available in town with late check-in until 1 am. The staff were pleasant and the location is quiet. The bed was okay and the water pressure was strong. The tap water actually tasted okay. There was a basic grab and go breakfast in the main office. Laundry facility on site.

The bedding had stains. The hotel is in need of a renovation. The windows didn't lock, so security is just an illusion. No elevator to the second floor. The sound proofing was not good enough as I could hear the couple in the adjacent room fighting.

I liked that we were able to check in early.

The description of the hotel leaves something to be desired. We were under the impression that we were getting a queen bed, it was definitely not a queen. The bed was also very stiff. The garbage in the bathroom had used cuetips in it. There were curly hairs rolled up in the bath tub mat.

Staff stayed up to accommodate travellers. The beds were good. Five of us were able to work out adequate sleeping arrangements.

The Pioneer inn lived up to its name. It was a rustic experience sleeping at the Pioneer Inn.

The suite had recently been renovated, although it had fresh paint, a new kitchen and newer flooring the furniture seemed like original and was a lot more…rustic. The beds were very hard- we all slept poorly and had sore backs in the morning. The hide-a-bed sofa had a very thin mattress that you could feel the two bars through- it was so uncomfortable that my older son slept on the floor. We felt that it was overpriced for what we got. For less money we were able to book a cabin at the RV park down the road for our second night that was very comfortable, clean and new inside.

From the moment we arrived we were hesitant, this place looked really rough and run down. The stairs and balcony up to the second floor looked a little dilapidated and the wood was rotted in places. The main office smelled of mould. The guest contract stated that if you left any dirty dishes in the kitchen you would be charged $200 additional dollars and that if you chipped or broke a dish you would be charged an additional $100-300.

Safe clean and quiet

Decent rooms kept up nicely, very clean, safe, and mostly quiet. I enjoyed being out of town and close to the river.

It's just a little noisy if folks are talking outside. I'm also super light sensitive and while I appreciated that the parking lot was well lit I wished there were black out curtains.

It was a very old & dated place with extremely old fittings and amenities. Carpets were stained and supplies were limited. Had to ask for everything.

Very good

Cozy and comfortable room situated across from nice lite hiking trails that my dog and I enjoyed. I also enjoyed the Japanese/Korean restaurant next door. Loved the fried chicken.

No kitchenette (upgrade next time) and a desk to do office work would have been nice but overall very nice room / motel. I enjoyed my stay at the Pioneer.

We just stayed there for a few hours after a late arrival from the ferry. The room was clean. For a longer stay definately to small for three people.

I was surprised that it was expensive as it was we’re having so little to offer.

We left too early to access the breakfast so do not know what it was like. It appeared that many people were also leaving very early so perhaps the breakfast could’ve been offered in another form. Muffins to take and put in your own fridge if you were leaving before the office opened

The place is very old and has not been updated. And very remote so there was nothing around there. I did not realize that when I booked
