Thornwood Glamping Yala

We had a wonderful and very different experience staying at Thornwood Glamping Yala. The property is set inside a beautiful natural forest surrounded by large trees, rocks and wildlife, which makes it feel peaceful and completely away from the usual busy tourist areas. Waking up surrounded by nature and hearing the sounds of birds was one of the highlights of our stay. The luxury tent was spacious, very clean and comfortable, with a private bathroom and a nice outdoor area where we could sit and enjoy the surroundings. Even though you are staying in the middle of nature, the tent provides the comfort you would expect from a glamping site. The hosts were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. They were always available when we needed something and made us feel very comfortable throughout our stay. They arranged a BBQ dinner for us one evening, which was a lovely experience and made the night particularly memorable. Another highlight was the Yala safari they organised for us. The 4WD Jeep was in excellent condition, and our driver was friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about finding wildlife for us.We were incredibly lucky to see tuskers, crocodiles and many different species of birds during the safari. Just when we thought the safari was over, we had an unforgettable moment—two leopards suddenly crossed right in front of our jeep before disappearing back into the jungle. Site runs on Solar power, but Air conditioning requires the generator, with an additional charge for the fuel. As it was quite hot during our stay, we decided to use the AC. Credit cards are not currently accepted, so it’s a good idea to have enough cash on hand during your stay. Overall, Thornwood offers something very different from staying in a normal hotel or resort. It combines the adventure of staying inside a natural forest with the comfort of a luxury tent. We would definitely stay here again.
