About this house rental
The house is spacious and roomy yet with many smaller, intimate spaces for quiet conversations or restful solo moments. We have a variety of bedrooms including a master suite with an adjustable king size bed, an extra large queen room with lots of extra space for children to room in as well, two children's themed rooms of twin beds, and more. The home also includes a large playroom/basement living area with a full kitchen and adjoining bedrooms. There are several living room/gathering spots on the main floor as well, including the living room with a wood burning fireplace perfect for those fall and winter holiday gatherings. The main floor kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, small appliances, 2 ovens, microwave, dishwasher..... all that you would need for cooking for a large group! Included on every floor are toys and games to entertain the children in your gathering. Whether it's coloring supplies in the kitchen pantry, a play kitchen nook under the stairs, or dolls and cars and toys and puzzles, we hope your kids have plenty to keep them occupied. We know that will indeed help the grownups get their quiet time! Our garage is set up with hiking supplies, wheeled toys, yard games, and extra fold up tables for use wherever needed. Plenty of room for play even on those rainy days!
Outside we also plan for fun AND rest (think loungers and hammocks) as well. The property includes: an extra-large, heated pool (available May through October); ample yard space for games; multiple decks (some covered) for entertaining and gathering (includes a propane gas grill, propane firepit table and propane heater); a wood firepit area in the yard complete with adirondack chairs and firewood; and 50 acres of wooded hiking trails. Creeks, a waterfall, an old homestead and a large, dual level platform in the woods where you can stargaze, await you as you explore. If you're quiet enough you may even see some wild turkey or deer wander by.
This home is unique and designed by the original owner who we purchased it from. Of particular interest is the flooring in the formal living room that was hand restored wood from an old general store and reverse stenciled. Also of unique interest is the barnwood used in the basement that is from an old homestead located on the property. You will see a wonderful mixture of styles and eras in the furnishings and decorations; from family heirlooms to modern. All are chosen with comfort and welcome in mind. (You can see more about each room by clicking on the listing photos!)
We have tried to meet as many needs as we can and have something for everyone! Even people used to rural areas comment on the quiet that they experience here. We really hope our home will bring true rest and rejuvenation to all those who honor us with choosing us for their getaway!
This is a rural property so use normal precautions when hiking in the woods such as using bug spray and wearing suitable shoes. Be aware that there are muddy areas at times so wear clothes and shoes that won't be harmed by a little 'ole country dirt and mud! We have a trail and map available for you to enjoy our variety of marked trails. Keep in mind, though, that the summer, lush growing season can overtake them in a hurry! Using a GPS tracker such as Google Maps or the free app, Map My Walk, will help make sure you make it back to where you started!
Please note that we are handicapped friendly but not fully accessible. We are also family and child friendly but not totally child proof. Please check with us for further information!
Please also let us know any other special needs we might need to be aware of.
Our house is located in Eastern Time Zone, but just barely!
