- Dog-friendly: up to 2 well-behaved dogs, with an outdoor dog wash area and towels; dog sitting can be booked for the day when hosts are available.

- Not step-free: steps and terracing throughout and up to the viewing platform, so not suitable for guests with mobility issues; the garden is fenced but young children should not be left unsupervised.

- Tavistock: about a 6 minute drive, a market town with three major supermarkets, restaurants, a theatre, historic Pannier Market and a leisure centre with pool
- Dartmoor: approx 10 minute drive, for walking, cycling and outdoor pursuits
- National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth: about a 25 to 30 minute drive, with boat excursions from Plymouth Harbour
