Surround yourself with the rolling hills of rural South Wales with a stay at this 400-year-old former farm building. Perfect for couples and small families, the stone cottage offers the ideal location for days of discovery, whether it be through the countryside or along the coast. With the M4 passing just 3.5 miles away, Welsh day trips are made easy. Spend a day in the capital city of Cardiff (14 miles), known for its castle, museums, live entertainment, and excellent range of shops, pubs and restaurants along with cultural and sporting attractions. Barry Island (27.5 miles) is perfect for a classic seaside day out. Adventure lovers can head to Cwmcarn Scenic Drive (5.5 miles) for cross-country and downhill mountain biking, while history enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with Cardiff Castle (10 miles), the impressive Caerphilly Castle (9 miles), Castell Coch (9 miles), Caldicot Castle (18.5 miles) and the grand Raglan Castle (24 miles). The museum of Welsh Life at St Fagan's (12 miles) is worth a visit and Big Pit National Coal Museum (17.5 miles) provides a fascinating insight into the region’s heritage - a welcome all weather attraction. Keen golfers will also find several courses nearby. Children will love Cefn Mably Farm Park, Jump Adventure Trampoline Park, and Ty Coppi Adventures (all within 7 miles). The mile-long track road that leads to this charming farm building sets the scene for a remote stay surrounded by nature. On arrival, take a moment to savour the building’s historic stone exterior before stepping inside to find your private, pet friendly Welsh retreat. Be greeted by a well-appointed kitchen that boasts everything needed for a self-catered stay. This leads through to the social heart of the home, the open-plan lounge/diner. Gather at the wooden table to enjoy your holiday feasts, then afterwards, let stomachs settle as you sink into the lounge’s soft seating and find your favourite shows on the Smart TV. Completing the ground floor is a WC with a handy washing machine for holiday laundry – you’ll also have access to a shared tumble dryer. At the end of each busy day away, head upstairs and find a choice of two light and airy bedrooms: a master king-size room and a cosy twin, both served by a family bathroom.
Step outside each day to soak up the far-reaching countryside views. Here, in a small but private space, you’ll find a bench perfect for quiet morning coffees and a picnic table that invites al fresco lunches with scenic views as your backdrop. Guests will also benefit from private parking for up to three cars.
