About this cottage rental
This welcoming cottage, 5 miles out of Newport, gives you access to fresh countryside air, sweeping rural views and plenty of space to unwind. Converted in 2003 from a 400-year-old cow shed, the two-bed, pet-friendly home blends character with comfort and is ideal for groups of friends looking to explore the surrounding South Wales landscapes. Adventure lovers can head to Cwmcarn (5.5 miles) for cross-country and downhill mountain biking, while history enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with Cardiff Castle (10 miles), the impressive Caerphilly Castle (9 miles), Castell Coch, Caldicot Castle (18.5 miles) and the grand Raglan Castle (24 miles). Cardiff (14 miles) is brimming with shopping and dining opportunities, along with cultural attractions, and Barry Island (27.5 miles) is perfect for a classic seaside day out. The Big Pit National Coal Museum (17.5 miles) provides a fascinating insight into the region’s heritage. Keen golfers will also find several courses nearby.
Step inside and you’ll enter a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner that forms the sociable heart of the property. A ground-floor twin bedroom sits just off this space, designed with accessibility in mind and featuring a sliding door and pull cord for emergencies. Also on this level is an accessible family bathroom with a low-rimmed bath, overhead shower, transfer bench, and grab rails (please get in touch for more details). Upstairs, a second twin bedroom awaits, along with an additional electric shower room with WC, offering flexibility for families or friends. The well-equipped kitchen includes everything needed for easy self-catering, while a dedicated small work area with extra sockets and USB points makes it easy to attend to any business during your stay.
Outside, relax in the seating area with a garden bench – perfect for soaking up the peaceful countryside setting and stunning views. There’s private parking for up to three cars on the premises.
