Comfortable, clean house in a good location to explore Cardiff. Good practical kitchen, comfortable beds. Parking is a little tight, but accessible.

Only minor niggles - It would be handy to have a lock on the toilet door, and the toilet seat fixed. Kitchen missing a sink plug and a cheese grater would be handy.

Inside the house is very good. It was nice and clean and freshly decorated. Someone has put some effort it to making it comfortable. Compared to other properties that were available at the time, it seemed reasonably priced. Only about a 20 min walk form the centre.

So the blurb mentions something about 'sound proofed walls', whilst we enjoyed a quiet stay on the whole, we could easily hear the neighbours singing and talking on one side. Parking is slightly stressful. Pretty much the whole of Cardiff is controlled with Permit Only Zones. The host kindly arranged for a permit but there aren't many spaces in the street anyway. Yes, we always managed to find a space but this caused a bit of anxiety. The permit only works/applies on that street. There are a couple of zone-free spaces and you can park on some adjacent streets after 6pm. I think many visitors would benefit if the host provided a short guide which explains how the parking in the area works - especially for those who aren't used to such restrictions (like me). It's actually not too bad once you have the information. Whilst the street is ok, in general, the local area feels a little run down. We went to a local store on foot (Tesco Express) late in the evening and passed through some back streets that had fly-tipping (sofas etc.), rubbish strewn everywhere, people hanging around on street corners, a couple of police vans, and a security guard for the corner shop. That said, if you stick to the main streets and walk to and from the centre of Cardiff directly then it's ok. (I guess the location is reflected in the price) Also, whilst the kitchen is clean and modern, it lacks a few basics: corkscrew, colander, cheese grater etc. Also, no salt, pepper, tea bags or anything (not needed but provided at other places).

Very clean and tidy. Lots of thought was put into the layout and decorations.

Of course, there is always room for improvement, and everyone is different and has different opinions. Best to communicate these privately with the host, as what is relevant to me may be irrelevant to another person.
