The Wicket Cottage

We booked The Wicket Cottage with previous reviews in mind and went prepared. Upon arrival we were so surprised at how lovely, well kept and cosy the cottage was! We had the ultimate cosy weekend of playing games, eating good food and spending quality time together as a family. There really isn't much I could fault as the kitchen was well equipped and stocked up with equipment and utensils.

The only issue we had was the cooker, we had to keep an eye on it to make sure it stayed on. However, we managed to cook and eat good food all weekend 😄

Location was excellent. Canal side walks were lovely and it is well situated for local attractions.

The cottages are showing some signs of age but it does look like the owners are upgrading things but by bit. Seemed clean except we moved the sofa around for the tv and it hadn’t been vacuumed for a while! Small oversight.

Can’t fault it really, especially not for the price. The cottage was clean and super spacious with nice facilities. It felt miles away from anything which was great for a short break. It was nice to have a dishwasher! Comfortable beds and nice furniture. Gated garden was a plus for a toddler. It wasn’t luxurious, sure, but anyone expecting luxury probably should expect to pay more… we liked the hot tub, it felt like it was always hot. I had a chance to speak to the staff and they were very friendly and polite.

There was one cooking pot but we made do, there was no mobile data but we were able to call emergency service during our stay with no issues (different frequency for emergency calls). Reading the reviews we packed like going on a camping trip 😂 but it was just pleasant all around and are equipment was not necessary

We loved how remote it was, how peaceful it was and it was comfortable.

The property was really nice there were only a few things that let it down. The hot tub was nice it just had a few jets that didn't work and the lid and the surround of the hot tub its self was tatty and broken. The oven was still dirty on the bottom which we didn't realise until we was mid way through cooking and it smoked the kitchen out which caused the smoke alarms to go off. We had to leave doors and windows open to clean the air in the building. The property stated it comes with wifi but the connection wasn't strong enough to watch or use any apps or connect our phones to.
