Surrounded by spacious private grounds, the house features a swimming pool, gourmet BBQ, wood-fired oven, and a renovated barn with billiards, table tennis, games, and a DVD area. Perfect for families and friends looking to relax, reconnect, and enjoy nature. Ideally located for exploring Óbidos, Nazaré, Fátima, Baleal, Santarém, and other iconic Portuguese destinations within an hour.
Country Escape with Pool, Pizza Oven & Games Barn
Welcome to our countryside retreat—a peaceful place designed for relaxing, reconnecting, and enjoying slow days with family and friends.
The property consists of three separate buildings: the Main House, the Pool House, and the Barn. The Pool House remains closed, while the Main House, the Barn, the swimming pool, the gardens, the gourmet barbecue area, the wood-fired oven, the pergolas, and the sports field are all for the exclusive use of our guests.
THE MAIN HOUSE
The Main House combines rustic charm with comfort and cozy family living.
Inside you will find:

• Dining area and fully equipped kitchen
• Cable TV and fast Wi-Fi
• Heating for colder days

The renovated Barn has become one of our favorite spaces—and usually the children’s too.

• Cozy lounge area
It’s the perfect space for family fun, rainy days, or relaxed evenings together.
OUTDOOR LIVING
Outdoor living is at the heart of the experience here.
Spend sunny days by the pool, grill outdoors, relax under the pergolas, or gather around the wood-fired pizza oven for unforgettable dinners under the stars—baking homemade pizzas in the evening is one of our absolute favorite traditions.
There is also a large green field ideal for soccer and outdoor games, and depending on the season, guests are welcome to pick fresh fruit directly from the trees.
LOCATION
Located less than an hour from Lisbon, the house is perfectly situated for day trips, sightseeing, wine testing, beaches, historic villages, and nature getaways.

Guests have exclusive access to all outdoor areas of the property, including the 1-hectare grounds, the Main House, the Games Barn, the swimming pool, and the BBQ area. Please note that the pool house is reserved for storage and remains closed during your stay.
What to do when you’ve had enough fun at the pool? Our country house is just 9 km from Valada, where you can walk along the river, take boat trips to explore the Tagus, or visit traditional fishing villages such as Avieira, Lezirão, and Aldeia da Palhota. We’re located in a wine tourism region, so if you’d like, I can help you organize a wine testing at one of the nearby vineyards (11 km). The nearest larger town is Cartaxo (6 km / 10 min), where you’ll find everything you need for daily life, such as supermarkets, pharmacies, and banks. Santarém (22 km/25 min) is the capital of Ribatejo; it’s a wonderful traditional city with many famous tourist attractions, excellent restaurants, and bars. But you can also enjoy a very special dinner at “Taberna do Alfaiate,” where you’ll find fabulous Portuguese food and wine in a lovely atmosphere—just 10 minutes (6.6 km) away from us. Or simply enjoy a dish of bacalhau at “A Cernelha,” a restaurant famous for its recipe—a simple yet excellent spot located along the N3 road (4.6 km/7 min). For a day trip, you can visit Óbidos (52 km / 40 min), a traditional medieval village that has been beautifully preserved. A variety of festivals are held there, but be sure to check the schedule based on your stay. You should visit between Thursday and Sunday; on other days, many places are closed.
Another option is to drive up to Caldas da Rainha, famous for its Bordallo Pinheiro porcelain. You can visit the museum and the shop, as well as explore the town protected by its medieval castle walls or head to the nearby beach. One particularly beautiful beach is “Praia da Foz do Arelho.” Thirty kilometers further up is “Nazaré,” famous for its huge waves and surfer Garrett McNamara. His favorite restaurant, right on Nazaré’s waterfront, is “A Celeste,” which has become famous because of him.
Another nice day trip is a visit to the “Grutas Mira de Aire” caves (61 km/40 min) or “Grutas da Moeda” (73 km/49 min); from there, it’s only 2 km to Fátima, where you can visit the famous Shrine of Fátima.
These are just a few suggestions of all the things you can do and visit. Also check out Golegã, the horse capital; the Alcobaça Monastery; and Peniche and Baleal, known for their beaches and surfing—all within a 60-minute drive.

No Parties—Strict Policy: Although it’s a country house and you feel secluded, noise carries very, very well. We have neighbors and must respect them. Our place is suitable for families and friends who want to relax and have a good time. It is not suitable for loud groups who want to drink, listen to loud music, and party.
No one-day parties: Organizing birthday parties or any other kind of party and inviting people to come over to spend the day is not allowed. Our place is for the use of our guests only.
No Parties or Events - Strict Policy - Use of our cottage is limited to registered guests only.
No parties or events of any kind are allowed, including one-day events or parties where non-registered guests do not stay overnight. If parties are organized in violation of our express instructions, we reserve the right to interrupt such events and to charge the market value for such events, which is 50€ per person and a minimum of 1,000€ per day. We are very sorry for this strict policy, but it is the only way we have found to avoid very unpleasant situations.
We have neighbors who are very important to us. In fact, they help us maintain and take care of our property. Therefore, we must respect the purpose of our cottage, which is located in a residential area.
Our place is suitable for families and friends who want to relax and have a good time. It is not suitable for noisy groups who want to drink, listen to loud music, or organize events and parties.
