Haga Haga Hotel

We recently booked a one-night stay at Haga Haga Hotel through Booking.com on fairly short notice as a spontaneous weekend getaway from East London. On arrival, there was unfortunately some confusion regarding our reservation. The booking had not come through to the hotel, and the staff were unaware that we were arriving. To be fair, I understand that they are relatively new to using Booking.com, and these systems can sometimes have teething issues. The staff did make an effort to accommodate us and prepare a unit as quickly as possible. That said, the arrival experience could have been handled more professionally. As guests, it is not particularly reassuring to hear comments such as "I hate Booking.com" or discussions about when Booking.com will pay the hotel. Those are internal operational matters and should ideally not be shared with guests. A simple apology and reassurance that the situation was being resolved would have created a much more positive first impression. There was also some confusion regarding the accommodation allocated to us initially, as it did not match the Deluxe Unit we had booked. This was eventually corrected, and the younger receptionist was very apologetic and helpful in getting us moved to the correct accommodation. Once settled, our experience improved considerably. The Deluxe unit was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped, with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, comfortable seating areas, and beautiful views. The sunrise the following morning was absolutely stunning. The bathrooms and showers were clean, and the overall accommodation was comfortable and enjoyable. Because the booking had not been expected, a few items were initially missing, including towels and some basic supplies, but these were provided when requested. The staff also checked the gas and ensured everything was working correctly. A special mention must go to the restaurant and service staff, who were warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay.
