About this house rental

Welcome to Casa Terraza, your family`s Old San Juan oasis! Just steps from Plaza Colón, our restored Spanish Colonial home is your gateway to historic forts, vibrant plazas, and culinary delights. Unwind on two stunning terraces or in the serene courtyard. We`re toddler-friendly, with everything your little ones need for a perfect Puerto Rican getaway! :)

Home is fully air conditioned. Beautiful Spanish colonial architecture, 15+ foot ceilings on the first floor, and gorgeous stained glass arches. 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, large living and dining rooms with soaring ceilings, washer and dryer, and two magnificent terraces and a courtyard to enjoy the San Juan weather!

This is our family`s home and we hope you will respect and care for it as you would your own. We would especially love to host family gatherings and have noticed there aren`t too many child-friendly options for families with young children, so we hope to offer that to your family (and are open to your suggestions on ways in which we can continue to improve upon our offering!).

Please only request to book our Airbnb if you are committed to respecting our neighbors and observing quiet hours between 10pm-7am.

A note about Old San Juan`s charm... Staying in beautiful, historic Old San Juan means experiencing a unique blend of colonial charm and modern living. As of this vibrant, centuries-old neighborhood, the infrastructure can sometimes be quirky. Water pressure and temperature may occasionally vary, so the showers may not always be as hot or strong as you`re used to. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy the character and magic that make Old San Juan so special.

Please note that the second bedroom on the first floor is through the first bedroom, though it can also be accessed via doors from the courtyard. The full bathroom is connected to the 2nd bedroom, so the 1st bedroom occupants will need to go through the 2nd bedroom to use this bathroom. The terraces are on the 2nd floor and access to both is through the 2nd floor bedroom. 2nd floor is only accessible via a long spiral staircase, so it is not suitable for anyone with mobility challenges.

Please know that Old San Juan is a vibrant, bustling urban area with many tourists and so you should expect some noise if you stay anywhere in Old San Juan, especially on weekend nights. If you are a light sleeper, we recommend bringing earplugs since it`s hard to predict how loud it may be on any given night. Fortunately, our street is not typically very loud, but there is variability, especially from guests in other Airbnb properties in the surrounding area.

Child-friendly amenities: 1 pack and play, 1 SlumberPod blackout sleeping tent, 1 high chair, 1 booster seat (to attach to a chair, not for car use), 1 white noise machine, 1 baby monitor set (audio only), 1 collapsible child wagon with a canopy attachment, and 1 toddler bed rail guard available for guest use. Please note that we are in the process of replacing all close-to-the-ground outlets with tamper-proof outlets but have not yet completed this work. There is a bag of plastic outlet covers for guest use in the living room shelving unit. First floor bathroom has a tub and stopper but we do not currently have an infant tub available.

No smoking, vaping, drug use, or guests permitted at the property.

This rental is for the entire home. You will receive a lockbox code to access the physical house key close to your check in time. The entrance is one step up from the sidewalk (but a short enough step we can easily navigate this with our stroller and collapsible wagon). There is a lock-out fee of $50 and a lost key fee of $40.

Old San Juan: A Walk Through History`s Embrace

To walk in Old San Juan is to wander through a living museum. Your feet will find their rhythm on the adoquines, the iconic blue-tinged cobblestones that pave the city`s hilly streets. Look up, and you`re greeted by a kaleidoscope of color: colonial buildings painted in cheerful pastels of pink, blue, yellow, and green, their ornate balconies draped in bougainvillea.

The journey is a sensory feast. The warm, salty air, a constant gift from the Atlantic, carries the distant sounds of salsa music drifting from an open doorway and the cheerful chatter from bustling plazas. The imposing sentinels of Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal dominate the landscape, their massive walls whispering tales of battles and resilience. A stroll along the Paseo de la Princesa, a 19th-century promenade, offers breathtaking views of the San Juan Bay, especially as the sun sets, painting the sky in fiery hues. As you meander, you`ll inevitably encounter the city`s feline residents, the well-cared-for cats of Old San Juan, adding to the neighborhood`s unique charm. Be prepared for a workout; the city`s inclines are no joke, but every upward climb rewards you with a new, picturesque vista.

Please note that the second floor bedroom (queen bed, twin daybed, twin trundle beds is only accessible via a tall spiral staircase and is not suitable for guests with mobility challenges.
Max of 6 adults, 2 children (or more if fewer than 6 adults), and 1-2 infants. No guests are permitted at the property beyond those who are staying at the property and counted in the Airbnb booking information. Thanks!
