It’s set in a peaceful and tranquil surrounding, with picturesque views of the beautiful and dramatic scenery extending 8km down the glen, from Rychraggan to the hills of the far side of Loch Ness. From the house, you can observe the ever-changing colours of the countryside, as the sun moves across the sky from dawn till dusk.
Rychraggan’ s Highland setting is home to an abundance of Scottish flora and fauna. Buzzards nest in the Pine forest directly across from the house. Watch them from the garden as they rise and swoop on thermals, while making their distinctive calling sound. Owls are also in residence and many smaller birds such as Chaffinches, Robins and Woodpeckers can be observed in the trees lining the garden. If you’re lucky, you might catch sight of the Red Squirrels which visit on occasion. The garden also hosts butterflies, bumblebees and toads in the Summer, while further afield deer and badgers can be spotted at times.
Highland Hillside Retreat is a large property with ample parking for several vehicles. It has space, privacy and seclusion. You can stroll around a half acre of cultivated gardens or venture beyond to enjoy the local forest walks on your doorstep, including the Rychraggan Woods Trail. In the wider area, you can walk to Divach Waterfalls, Urquhart Bay Woods and Craigmonie Hill, offering a great vantage of the Loch.
Less than 1 km from Highland Hillside Retreat, facilities including a swimming pool and tennis courts can be hired from a local hotel. The towns of Drumnadrochit and Beauly are 5km and 12km away respectively, offering restaurants, cafés and high quality shops.
