L'échappée Normande

Our stay at L'échappée Normande was simply perfect. Having spent a little time in Normandy in the past, we were keen to find a place to stay that was within easy reach of the coast (Veules les Roses, St. Valery-en-Caux, etc) and this ticked all the boxes. The house itself is charming -- tucked away in a tiny village that isn't even listed on some of the maps, which made it quiet and private. Enormous grounds wrap around the house which is equipped with everything you'd need (from plentiful kitchen equipment, coffee machines, microwave, iron, hairdryer, and large screen TV with Netflix) and the interior is extremely spacious with two comfortable bedrooms, a very large living room/dining room and eat-in kitchen. Our host was extremely responsive and helpful and when we had a minor issue, he responded within 10 minutes and was able to fix our little problem. We stayed here during one of the summer heatwaves yet the downstairs remained quite cool and the upstairs was fitted with standing fans. Mornings began outside watching dozens of swallows flit between the trees and evenings spent tasting delicious local cheeses and wines while sometimes watching a movie on the big screen. This has become one of our favourite places to stay in France and we plan on returning.

On arrival, we had to wait a little while for the housekeeper to let us into the house - but this was a very small and inconsequential issue.
