Retreat 舞月

I arrived from my Kumano Kodo hike an hour ahead of the scheduled key pickup time. I sent an email to the owner, who arrived immediately. The house is very well located, with a supermarket right across the street (keep in mind it closes quite early—it's not a 7-Eleven). There is also a restaurant nearby that closes early as well (at 6:30 PM), but the food is good. The owner gave me a tour and explained how all the appliances work. The fridge was stocked with drinks and eggs, which were offered free of charge. The house is located by the road and surrounded by rice paddies. It was very pleasant to be woken up by the sound of frogs singing. I highly recommend this as a stopover if you are doing the Kumano Kodo. When leaving, I notified the owner that I was leaving the keys where she had instructed, and I departed. A huge thank you!

If I really had to suggest one small improvement, I'd say a small curtain on the window above the bed would be perfect. Other than that, I have nothing to add. It was simply perfect.

Amazing place! Location is great. The person handling the check in and keys was amazing! We arrived a bit earlier than expected and sent an email asking whether an early check-in might be possible. Within five minutes, someone was there to let us in. They also had frozen meals, microwaveable food, and drinks available, which was a very thoughtful touch. Many guests arrive late, when restaurants and shops may already be closed, so having food available on the site made a big difference and showed a lot of consideration for travelers. The beds were great, and it was our first time spending a night surrounded by rice fields. The atmosphere was incredible. Sounds of nature were lovely, and it was one of the most restful nights we've had in a long time. A lovely place that I highly recommend.

Everything was great! The beds are comfortable, the cabana style high ceilings, washing and drying machine is super modern and works great! And overall all the little details, the space, the snacks they left as courtesy!
