SEN RETREAT TAKAHARA - Kumano Kodo Gateway

Very nice, comfortable and clean room. The location was ideal for our first stop on Kumano Kodo. It was very peaceful. Drinks left in the fridge were a nice touch.

Thought the food provided was good, dinner was quite small and breakfast was only a few bread rolls. Some fruit, yoghurt or something else would have been better considering we and all the other guests had a long walk ahead of us and there are no shops near to buy more food. Also, dinner was a bento box, which was given to us at 5pm. It was too large to store in the fridge which meant we had to leave it at room temperature for a few hours. The bread rolls were wrapped and left in our rooms, though didn’t stale and we could toast them. Overall I think the food service with the no staff situation needs to be better thought through. The blind in our room was also slightly broken.

Well located along the Komono Koda track. Clean and comfortable but the access procedures to check in are rather complex. Loved the fact there was a washing machine.

The food for dinner and breakfast were very poor. The check in procedure is not straight forward.

Beautiful

The bento box was ok but we had the same one the night before

Goo location and nice environment

Food… breakfast was pre-given the night before and just few bread roll and ONE small serving of butter. Way too simple for what others are offering in the area. Dinner was bad as the bento set was give at 4pm. By evening we had cold a dinner.
