About this house rental
Welcome to Barefoot Lodge! A family-sized cabin with open concept kitchen and living rooms, vaulted ceiling exposing the original cabin, and cedar plank walls. You'll love the stunning views of Lake Michigan from the large picture windows or back deck and relaxing sound of the waves lapping onto shore.
The lake shoreline changes often and while it is usually sandy, there can be bouts of rocks, but don't let this deter you! This beachfront is perfect for kids with shallow water extending a lengthy way out from the shoreline. And, perfect for the evening bonfires and nighttime stargazing!
There is a smart TV that can hook up to a phone hotspot so you can log in to your favorite app for streaming shows. We currently do not have WIFI internet or cable/satellite.
The main bedroom with a king size bed is lakeside to fully capture the spectacular sunrises. The second room is two queen beds and third is two twin beds. The bathroom is spacious and includes a large capacity washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, and commonly used small appliances and a dishwasher. The massive table easily fits 8 people for meal-time gathering and sharing memories.
This home is also perfect for any boaters and/or fishing enthusiasts, as it's about 1/4 mile from Cedar River State Harbor open early May to mid-September where you can launch and dock your boat (see state website for more details and www.midnrreservations.com for harbor reservations). The harbor has long term or day use dockage, a bike rental, fishing pier, dog run, ice for sale, and vending machines.
The house is also about a mile from a gas station with mini-mart that serves breakfast & lunch, the Halfway Bar & Grill, and the Cedar River for more fishing!
Cedar River is halfway between Marinette, WI and Escanaba, MI--approximately 35 min to either.

My wife and I and some friends came up over Memorial Day weekend and had a very good experience. We really enjoyed the views of Lake Michigan! The cabin had a good arrangement with three bedrooms as well as an open and spacious main room. We had several meals there and also enjoyed the back porch/deck. We also appreciated the cabin was dog friendly!
The area is quiet and scenic, with a park and boat launch area within walking distance. We appreciated being on a side road where there was not much traffic. I will say the mosquitoes were quite plentiful, even in the yard by the cabin, although that is to be expected during spring in the Northwoods.

Such a cozy and relaxing place to spend time in the U.P. Close enough to be able to day trip and sightsee local attractions with a relaxing home base to come back to; the beach and lake make this place a destination all its own without leaving the property. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful place to relax and recharge.
