Calderbrook House

It is a great place to stay. The pool, the piano and the guitar are all amazing touches. The Décor is spot on, and everything seems homely. The Host was super accommodating with early check-in and late check-out too. Definitely recommend and would be happy to stay again.

Could do with a new mattress in the main bedroom, as the current one does not offer a lot of support. The top-floor bedrooms can get quite warm, and I wish there were fans available.

The house is quirky and done nicely. The views out of the windows are nice enough (you are in a valley so you don't have sweeping views, but trees and a river). The kitchen is well appointed and there is a lovely big country style gas stove and full sized snooker table. You are only 1 mile from the town centre.

The bed I had was very uncomfortable, super soft and maybe there is an issue with the slats as you could not lie flat, you instead laid in a kind of sitting position. This might be personal preference. Also the house is located in a light industrial area with workshops and an industrial equipment hire plant next door. When you are in the house you can't really see these and the there doesn't seem to be too much traffic associated with them but they are there. There is also some kind of electricity plant when you drive into the area on the right. It feels like a house in the middle of an industrial area. Businesses next to the house include: EPS HIre, Calder Brook Garage, Holme End Works, Arrose Engineering, Green Hand Gang and Fabs Ices. I will say, this was a disappointment for me as I wanted a picturesque cottage and would have preferred to be further from the town to have this.
