About this villa rental
This historic Cadore residence, dating back to the mid-15th century, is located in Valle di Cadore, a town of about 2,000 residents, in the heart of the Dolomites.
The building, which has been recently restored and is the subject of a monograph (see Paola Arduini, “Casa Galeazzi del Carmine: An Ancient Cadore Mansion,” Vianello Libri, 2013, ISBN 88-7200-401-2), is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Cadore: it belonged to the ancient Galeazzi del Carmine family, whose origins date back to Andrea da Cesena, a mercenary captain in the service of the Venetian Republic. The current owners are descendants of this very family. The recent restoration of the building has brought to light interesting architectural and decorative details, including exquisite frescoes dating from the 16th and 18th centuries. Much of the interior furnishings also comes from the family’s own collection of furniture and household items and represents an interesting historical and artistic record.
The house is ideal for those who, in addition to comfort, tranquility, and nature, appreciate what is ancient, precious, and steeped in history.
From the spacious south-facing terraces and the sunny garden, you can enjoy a splendid view of the Dolomites. The nearest ski slopes are those of San Vito di Cadore—15 km away—and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the “queen” of the Dolomites and host of the 1956 Winter Olympics—23 km away.
Among the countless recreational and sporting activities available nearby, the following are worth mentioning: cycling and mountain biking, fishing, golf, horseback riding, mountaineering, paragliding, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, summer skibob, swimming, tennis, hiking, caving, free climbing, rafting, windsurfing, and sailing.
A private indoor pool (heated and saltwater) and a hot tub will rejuvenate guests after a day spent enjoying sports or cultural activities, before dinner in the large frescoed dining room or a barbecue in the garden.
The house can accommodate up to 8 adults and 3 children in 4 bedrooms on the first floor, each with a private bathroom. On the first floor, there is 1 large, fully equipped kitchen (with a table for 8–10 people), 1 dining room (for 12 people), 1 living room, 1 guest room (with a single sofa bed and a private bathroom with a shower: for a potential ninth adult guest), 1 laundry room, and 1 restroom.
The indoor heated pool (28°–30°) (located on the lower level, at garden level) is equipped with a restroom and a chromotherapy shower, as well as a fitness area and a relaxation area with a 70-inch TV, table soccer, and a PlayStation.
Rates are based on 8 adults; other options will be considered at the time of booking.
