Lobster Pot Cottage is one of the original fisherman’s cottages in the quaint ’Old Town’ of Scarborough. The property has been tastefully renovated to a high standard making it the perfect accommodation for a family holiday or couples getaway.

To the rear of the property is a small terraced area with seating, ideal for an evening meal after a day on the beach. The area is also enclosed, thus perfect if you’ve brought your four-legged friend. It is superbly situated as both the South Bay and North Bay are just a few minutes walk to reach either beach. There’s also a long Marine Drive that runs along the seafront, which makes for a lovely stroll looking overlooking the sea.

Scarborough is a traditional seaside town with lots of attractions for all age groups. For children, there are two fantastic beaches to enjoy with donkeys, rides, games, ice cream shops, and candy floss in abundance. Also close by are the Sealife Centre, Peasholm Park, and the Alpamare UK waterpark, which has a fantastic infinity pool along with lots of slides, water chutes, and a great wave machine. The Dalby Forest, home to a World Cup XC mountain bike trail, is a great place to go with the bikes and try out all of their trails, or visit ’Go Ape’, the high ropes activity adventure park above the trees of the forest. For the adults, there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and traditional pubs near the cottage. The indoor market has plenty of interesting eateries, as well as the traditional market stalls. On the lower floor in the vaults of the building are lots of interesting shops with antiques and books.

The seaside resorts of Whitby, Flamborough Head and Filey are within a short car drive. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is further down the coast, where you can see the migrating seabirds, especially the puffins. Lobster Pot Cottage is perfectly situated as a base to visit the North York Moors National Park, the East Coast, and the Yorkshire Wolds.

We had a fantastic time at Lobster Pot Cottage in Scarborough. The house is in a fab quiet location in the old town and just a short walk down hill to the South Bay beach and amenities. The walk back up the hill feels a bit longer though! Scarborough is pretty steep and hilly in places. The house itself is really nice, bright and welcoming. The owners provide a fantastic welcome pack with tea, coffee, hot choc and a basket of doggy things for those who bring a four legged friend. We don't have a dog and just wanted to say there was no trace of any doggy odours which can sometimes be present in pet friendly accommodation. The house is well decorated throughout with plenty of space for sitting in both the sitting room and dining room. We were a party of three adults and one child and didn't feel squashed together. The owners have really thought of everything you could need in the house. All you really need is your clothes, toiletries, food and a roll of kitchen towels. Literally everything else- cleaning products , condiments, teabags, dish cloth, towels etc etc- was provided. There is even a shed in the yard full of buckets and spades, toys and beach chairs. There is a chest with books and toys on the landing upstairs too. The owners also provide scratch cards for parking if you come by car, with plenty of space to park nearby if not always outside the door. The bedrooms were both clean and beautifully decorated with plenty of storage and the beds and pillows were lovely and comfy. The bathroom was again clean, well decorated and well equipped. The only slight negatives, or things to consider maybe, is that the main stairs are very steep, there are a few steep steps up to the bathroom as well from the upper landing, and the bath/shower is also deep and highsided with nothing to hold onto whilst climbing in and out, so if you have mobility issues you may struggle. The yard was also a bit disappointing. It was pretty dirty and a bit smelly due to all the ever present pigeons and seagulls, not helped by the next door neighbour throwing great lumps of meat onto their shed roof to attract the birds even more. Due to this we didn't feel comfortable to sit out in the yard, however we spent so much time out enjoying the beach that we were happy just to relax inside when we came in for the day so it's only a minor negative point for us. I would wholeheartedly recommend Lobster Pot Cottage to anyone considering booking I'm so pleased we chose to book it we had a great holiday.

Cottage is lovely, well positioned for both beaches and the castle although on top of hill so it's not for everyone. Five minutes walk to takeaways or local shops . Well appointed and decorated , only thing missing from the kitchen was some salt .Again the cottage and street parking is on the hill and streets are narrow, but the parking permits work well and there is a lot of choice of places . We didn't use the courtyard as it was mucky with pigeon droppings the drain was needing cleaning.Overall good
