Kelso does not have a train station; the nearest rail connection is at Tweedbank on the Borders Railway, around 15 miles away, with direct services to and from Edinburgh. Taxis are readily available in Kelso for local journeys or transfers. Edinburgh and Newcastle airports are both approximately 1–1.5 hours away by car.
