Barbican - Iconic Barbican 2 Bed - Lift Access, Central London

Iconic, exactly as described, modern decoration and comfortable beds

Whilst there were all the utensils necessary for cooking there were no basics - it’s not great to self cater if you have to go out and buy salt/sugar/pepper/oil etc. to only use them for two nights. All things that keep perfectly well and property could have to hand.

Central location, good size, good shower - had all we needed.

There was an odd smell (from the ponds outside I think) Accessing the flat was a real pain, going between lifts! Also, the key collection was not close to the property which was frustraiting.

Barbican is a great location, and access to residents gardens was a real bonus. Apartment was clean and for London was relatively spacious.

Key pick up was a 15 minute walk from the property (at a vape shop next to Cannon Street tube!), which you are only told about a day before you arrive. There was an excuse about the key safe at the flat being broken and needing to be replaced, but seeing as this was raised as an issue in previous reviews, I suspect it is not true and there never has been a key safe as the Barbican Estate does not allow them. Also, there is only one door key, which is a pain as there were 4 of us and we often wanted to go out separately. Flat is nice, but be aware it is directly below a walkway, so you can hear people walking over you, but not too bad.
