Jonkershuis Farm Retreat

There are places you stay and places you begin, quietly, to covet. Jonkershuis is firmly the latter. We were on a road trip, visiting family along the way, and turned off onto an immaculately kept gravel road for what was meant to be two nights' sleep. We left wishing we'd given the whole trip to the farm. Two bedrooms, a queen in each, and not a single object that looks like it was ordered in a season. The whole house reads as though it's been gathered over years and properly lived in, which makes it a home rather than a holiday approximation of one. The beds are the sort you sleep late in without meaning to. The kitchen, should you wish to use it, is stocked well enough that dinner becomes something you cook instead of something you assemble. Our host is the reason any of it works. Rusks on arrival, homemade sourdough on offer, and toys already set out for our toddler. The small mercy of a stranger who had thought about our child before we got there. Though you're on a farm, you're never left to your own devices. She's near at hand when you want her and never underfoot. Our daughter had the toys, and time in the play area besides, and for the first time in weeks we sat down. Properly sat, coffee still hot, conversation uninterrupted. That is the real luxury, and it isn't on any list of amenities. We'll return for the farm itself next time, and maybe even long enough to make our own sourdough.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was spotless and had everything we needed.

Everything you need is there and everthing is great quality. The views are incredible The beds are comfy. The jack russells who visited were charming.
