Very enjoyable village/town hotel, friendly local place with good ambiance.

Very pleasant, helpful and polite staff although restaurant service was quite slow and seemed a little haphazard. Nice location in an attractive small town. Food was very good – especially the venison.

Accommodation was a little 'tired'. Fan not working in bathroom. Biggest problem: internet connection not functional. The staff were sympathetic and made efforts to sort it out, but unsuccessfully. As the assistant manager said when it was first reported, "These days, a good internet service in a hotel is a necessity, not a luxury".

Staff nice. Room clean. Shower powerful enough. Seating area downstairs nice. Would stay again if in the area.

Breakfast a little disappointing. Menu was great and generous amount of smoked salmon but my scrambled eggs had probably been under a heat lamp for a while and didn't taste very nice.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel breakfast on day 2 of my stay was delicious. Due to a flooding problem on the day I arrived, I was given a voucher for very good free english breakfast at the Bear Inn opposite.

I understand the hotel is under new management and there is a programme of renovation in place. My room was very comfortable and clean, however I found the TV aerial cable was bare and hanging down below the TV. This was sorted quickly, however, I think it should have been noticed before I arrived. The hotel is quite a rabbit warren, with various doors not clearly signed as to where they lead! More signage is needed on the corridors and doors.
